I admit he makes Sasuke look as dumb as Naruto but he's nowhere near as intelligent as Shikamaru. His abilities aren't special at all bar tsukuyomi. Compared to Sasuke who could use Amaterasu many times a day with his old MS, Itachi was a one and done; his chakra reserves aren't that special either. Also the Yata mirror is over-rated too; everyone knows that despite how hyped up it was, it took a bashing from Kirin and that was a single elemental attack.. a bijuu bomb would probably shatter it.

The one and only thing I feel that really stands out about him is his unshakeable resolve (wiping out his clan to prevent a war) and his ability to remain calm under any situation. His Susano'os sealing sword is pretty tight too but that's it.
