As we can see here in this video, Marco rushed up to stand up against Kizaru’s attack. Now then, to prove that Marco has Observation Haki, we have to break apart this video and relate it to some manga scans.

Now, the first thing that should be pointed to in the video is that Marco blocked Kizaru’s Magatama attack in a partially transformed state, not as a full Phoenix. This is important, because it ties into the main point: Marco cannot heal attacks he received on his normal human body with the blue flames.

The flames can only heal Marco if they were present on the part of his body that received a wound prior to receiving the wound. The proof can be found with this:

Marco receives a sneak attack from Kizaru from behind while in his human body, leaving two wounds on his back and chest.

Now, here in another chapter, while Marco is summoning up his flames, we can clearly see the wounds are still present as blood can be seen trailing from them.

Now, what’s important is that we look at what’s happened in between this page and the page where Marco is wounded in the first place.

You must be registered for see images

We have Jozu being frozen by Aokiji

You must be registered for see images

We have Sakazuki piercing Whitebeard in the chest

You must be registered for see images

Then we have Luffy arguing with Iva and receiving the tension hormones

You must be registered for see images

As we can see here, Sakazuki has backed away from Whitebeard and WB has slumped to his knees, showing that Luffy and Iva start arguing AFTER WB is struck, not before or at the same time.

Then you have Luffy running towards the execution stand with Iva and knocking down some Marine fodder.

Then you have Luffy having a brief confrontation with Coby, then you have Pacifista blocking his path, then Hancock saves him and finally, we come full circle to Marco summoning up his flames with his wounds intact. Now, Marco isn’t stupid, and he’s an experienced fighter in the New World and he’s dead serious about this war. So, with that in mind, why would he not heal his wounds? We’ve had all that happen in between the two panels, Marco has had ample time to transform and start healing, but he hasn’t, and it makes no sense to say that Marco would just leave two wounds like that intact if he can get rid of them. The only sensible answer: He can’t. He can’t heal wounds that were dealt to his direct body, which would also explain the bruises he got after Garp punched him with Haki, and them not healing despite being fully transformed at the time.

Now, how does that prove Marco has Observation? Well, let’s look back to the video. In the video, Marco has parts of body that are wounded engulfed in flames, as well as his arms. It’s clear that only parts of his body that are wounded are engulfed because the parts that are still human are completely wound-free. We’ve seen that Marco can selectively transform his body at will, so would it really be reasonable to assume that Kizaru fired the Magatama in a pattern that resulted in them coincidentally hitting Marco in transformed parts of his body and not a single part that wasn’t transformed? No, of course not. The only reasonable explanation is that Marco tracked the Magatama and predicted what parts of his body would be struck by them, then transformed his body accordingly. How could he do that, with Observation Haki, which we all know allows you to predict where you’ll be struck.

One can argue that if Marco has Observation, how could he be hit by Kizaru from behind? Shouldn’t he have predicted that attack coming and evaded or transformed? Well, no, because his concentration was broken. He saw Whitebeard in pain, and it caused him emotional distress, or specifically, to worry. It’s no secret Whitebeard and his crew share a bond akin to that of family, and if you saw a family member in intense pain and coughing up blood, wouldn’t you panic, even if a little? That’s what happened to Marco and caused his Observation to break. The same thing happened to one of Enel’s Priests, his concentration wavered and that led to his defeat.

So in short, Marco has Armament and Observation Haki.

i thought this was a given, i'm pretty sure all the high tiers can use the 2 basic types of haki since the m3 can. even ppl like rebecca can use CoO

There are people who denied Marco having CoO?

If anyone's CoO is in question its Doflamingo.

Eh, I doubt Ace had Armament, seeing as how he attacked Teach with a Haki-less attack despite knowing he was a Logia. He got lucky that Teach can't phase through attacks.

I've never seen anyone say otherwise, thought it was just presumed most characters had CoA and CoO due to their status/feats/hype in general.

Also I think he can heal all wounds since otherwise it wouldn't really be healing wounds...it would just be blocking them with the phoenix fire or passing through the phoenix fire which means he would get wounded and does in fact heal his wounds, if that's the case why would he not be able to direct his fire to his other wounds? ~__~

Then why didn't he?

Well you said yourself he was getting distracted, with Newgate getting put down, same with Jozu and the other commanders they were most likely his top priority.

If you can find a panel of later on in the war and he still has his wounds then yeah sure. But I don't remember him having the same wounds when he clashed with Sakazuki, could be wrong. I'm not disagreeing that he has CoO (he clearly has) i'm just disagreeing with the way his fruit works.

Hmm I think you're right, I don't think he had the wounds when he clashed with Akainu.

Nope. I even listed all the events that happened between him getting shot and him getting cuffed, there was quite a bit of time.

can't really use examples from pre timeskip since oda didn't wanna show the full concept of it and it also wasn't fully developed then.

Bullshit. We had:

1. Mantra, or Observation Haki
2. Sentomaru using Haki against Luffy
3. Garp hurting Luffy with punches at Water 7
4. Haki usage during Marineford, like Jozu hitting Aokiji and Crocodile, Whitebeard striking Akainu, the three Admirals blocking WB's quake with Armament, and the fact that it was actually called Haki at multiple points.
5. Rayleigh giving the explanation for what Haki was PRE-SKIP
6. Kuja Pirates on Amazon Lily using Haki-infused arrows
7. Luffy's burst of Haki in Impel Down
8. Shanks using Haoshoku from the very first chapter

Oda clearly had the idea of Haki in mind pre-timeskip, the only new thing we got so far from Haki was Buso: Koka
