Lee is alive because of plot...

In part one if you remember well, Kimmimaro vs. Gaara, he almost killed Lee and Gaara pops up to save him. Then when Lee/Gaara is about to die, 1 centimeter distance saves him because Kimmimaro just died and he froze, his hand did not continue moving because the laws of physics do NOT apply in Naruto. Because of previous force the hand should have been moving at least at a slower speed but it just stopped.
