An example of what I mean is One Piece.

After every island, crew, organisation, characters the whole verse is enormous.

Naruto isn't to shabby as well with the different villages etc.

Examples of smaller universes.

Bleach - Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, Karakura Town - only has 3 main stages and very few characters.

So yeah I'm looking for an anime which has an expanded verse.

Any suggestions?

Sword Art Online, but I believe that you have already read everything.

Durarara!!, it's quite a huge place all-in-all even though it's 1 city.

No Game No Life - It's literally conquering the entire world, starting from 1 place of course.

Log Horizon - Also a journey for conquest, starts out small, ends up big.

Code Geass - A single man, gets powers, gets a small terrorist organization, turns into a large organization and so on.

Attack on Titan - In a way, with all the walls and territories, but it's not exactly how you wanted it to be though.

Definitely Magi.

SAO and 12 Kingdoms also fits the criteria.

Thanks I'm going to try No Game No Life and Log Horizon, I've read/watched the rest.
