Why In chapter 684 and the 1st page of 685 did naruto look like an edo?

I'm just puzzled cause I noticed in a couple/few panels of chapter 684 naruto had what looked like cracks on his face then when kaguya launched her bone stakes at naruto to kill him even though it turned out to be a clone how come in the 1st page of 685 naruto is a pile of dust like an edo.

Clone probably has better defense and took the damage first (turning to ash) and then poofed.

Ah, the clone crumbled by Kaguya's attack there.

Or a power Naruto don't know about
