would naruto go to the same extreme lengths to (save) shikamaru instead of sasuke?

hi guys,as we all know naruto has gone to extreme lengths to "save" sasuke,such as taking punches for him,crying,and hyperventillating and eventually collapsing in the snow. The thing is sasuke was not even that good a friend of naruto at all. shikamaru and chouji were about the only ones he played with during the academy days. they formed a little prank team and played after school. sasuke on the other hand never gave him any attention,saw him as a nuisance while naruto hated sasuke and always tried to pick fights with him(to no result) as seen here.

but that is not the point here.The question is if pre time skip shikamaru or chouji left the village to train with orochimaru instead of sasuke at the time, would naruto go to such extreme lengths to "save" them. i don't think so. Is it because he was his rolemodel?

Yes. What people don't know is that Shikamaru is just as much of a best friend to Naruto as Sasuke is, as Naruto pretty much proved in the manga.

interesting question. I believe that since he was part of team 7 at the time was one of the reasons.
another reason would be that naruto felt he was similar to sasuke in a way that they did not have parents and were lone in their childhood.

But i am certain that since shikamaru or choji would be chase by naruto in the same manner that he chased sasuke because they are still his comrades, extreme measures, like when he went fox mode to save hinata just by seeing her hurt.

Naruto connected with Sasuke in a much more profound way than he did with anyone else. Sasuke was his teammate as well as his greatest rival, the standard goal that Naruto worked at to attain. Sasuke was the only other person who knew the pain of isolation (first step of the hero formula). Part of his obsession also came from the simple fact that Sasuke had left and Naruto was unable to stop him.

Just one mistake.Naruto and Sasuke have a special bond of acknowledgement between each other. Naruto acknowledges Sasuke likewise Sasuke does with Naruto. It's not true they aren't friends.He already was the one to feel that they are Asura and Indra before Hagoromo told them.

I don't know about you, but I really wouldn't care a whole lot about my dead parents as compared to my, what would be considered, family now.
