im not a extreme hardcore player

but i did own every one of the following

ps1 , ps2 , ps3 , wii , gameboyadvanced (or something the one before the gameboy with display back lightning ) , the console with casettes ( ever heard of them )

ive tried out ps4 and xbox 1 with cross platform games and i have to say that ps4 wins more often than not

but both the platforms have exclusives which are good

the major advantage the xbox had was microsoft's superior design capabilities and servers , but sony have covered a lot of ground and even psn is seamless now


edit : i even play games on my pc which is very much a basic entry level system

if you're taking about overheating, well the slims dont' overheat actually, since the main vent and the fan is right above the heatsink, where the gpu and cpu reside, the old jasper, xenon and falcon models had a problem with that. they cool better then the ps3's actually.
