We all know that Naruto's ambition from the begining was to become Hokage.
But let us see why Naruto wants to be Hokage
(1) To gain acknowledgement.
(2) To protect his friends and village.
(3) To have a sense of motivation and guidance.
So from above we can see that the ambition among other things really helped Naruto develop. The ambition served it purpose and ended with that last TNJ with Obito.
This can further be strengthened by Kakashi's statements that his dream was to surpass the Hokage and that he has done it.
So in the end, Naruto will not be Hokage, not because he doesnt fit the bill but because he would pass it up to someone else (preferably Konohamaru) and move onto bigger things.
