I thought it was time to also criticize my favs at times so I made one of these for 4 of my fav manga that have their own sections on the base, check them out

the 3 biggest gripes I have with Hunter x Hunter

1. The art: this one is self-explanatory, though the anime does kinda make up for it

2. The Narration: while the narration does work in some cases, there are also many sections where it simply does not work and makes everything too slow, many things told through the narration would be much better if they were told through characters and shown visually, sometimes the narration assumes that the reader is too stupid and just explains too much and sometimes something that has already been said by a character is repeated by the narration

3. the very detailed explanation and planning from Togashi: this is actually one of the main strengths of the manga but imho it can also drag it down because Togashi sometimes simply goes too much into details or tries soo hard to tie all loose ends that it becomes unrealistic, I know it brings a degree of ''smartness'' (I feel stupid using that word) to the manga but the careful planning and detailed story-telling etc sometimes just makes it all unnatural and creates situations (like for example a certain sequence of events) that would be impossible or simply wouldn't work if this was not a pre-planned fiction, hence, unnatural. I honestly don't know how to properly explain this one so I'll try with an example: since this was recently in the manga I'll give this one, when Ging gave the election rules to Beans who would draw one from the box, the entire exchange between them worked to build the character of Ging and make him look smart and come off as a badass but that only worked because Togashi made his prediction happen but in a real world something like that can't really work because the law of large numbers alone says that at one point after a predictiton like that the predicted thing simply won't happen and it is likely that Ging would just be made a fool, in reality there are just so many things that could go wrong that predicting and planning something like that is simply to risky and would just seem foolish and overly-confident. Sorry but I honesty can't come up with a better explanation atm.

what are the 3 biggest gripes you have with HxH?

i honestly have no complaints about HxH ..

i will say that the amout of dialogue going on lately has been a bit to much for my liking but without it we wouldnt have a clear understand but otherwise the manga as a whole is great

1- Art of course

2- The explanation, that's freacking boring

3- Kids being so strong
Only 3 kids are strong...Gon(honestly not that strong as a whole)Killua(has a very short time to use his abilities) and Kurapkia(is actually strong lol). All three of these kids are geniuses with nen and natural ability and one happens to become a specialist. Not to mention 2 of 3 dont even make the top 15 realistically

3 gripes from HxH

I don't have a single one that I can think of. All the gripes people are mentioning I have come to love in this anime/manga and think they are executed beautifully.

1/ The entirety of the Chimera ant arc.

Words can't describe accurately enough how much I dislike this arc. It's imo the worst written arc in HxH. It's feels like it doesn't even belong to the series. It was like the Chimera ant arc, and the Yorknew arc were written by two different people.

2/ Gon. I think he is probably the only battle protagonist that I dislike. It all started since his fight with Bomber, and then the Chimera ant arc happened.

You could argue that he is more unique, but while I think his writing is interesting on some level, I still think he is not that good of a character. His development seems inconsistent, and the reason and conflict for it, being Kite, seems really stupid and Meh.

3/ I'm not sure if you can say it's a gripe. But I don't like how I can't get attached emotionally to the characters. There is no really any character that I actually care about, I like a lot, but it's not like with Naruto, where I care a lot about many characters, and I'm heavily invested in them emotionally, actually one of my top favorite aspects of Naruto, but it seems completely lacking in HxH, even though I watched HxH when I was a kid, and way before I even knew what Naruto was.

Honorable mention: Greed Island was pretty boring.
