People say that this downplays the underdog theme that was established in part 1 and the whole "break destiny" theme that was also established.
Those reasons are stupid. Naruto being Minato's son has absolutely no effect on these themes whatsoever.
The following reasons to say that the underdog theme is downplayed are respectable:
He got Kurama at birth.
He is Ashura's reincarnation
He has all 9 bijuus now.
He is Uzumaki and therefore has inherent strong life force and chakara.
However, Minato and Kushina were dead for the entirety of Naruto's life besides the few moments after he was just born. Therefore it is not like they could impart any skills or wisdom to him. They left him no inheritance (besides Kurama which I already stated to be a respectable reason to say that Naruto was not really an underdog). Successful parents do not guarantee a successful child as Hagoromo pointed out. Even the man who was supposed to be Naruto's God father (Jiraiya) didn't show up until Naruto was about 13!
Furthermore, very few people knew about Naruto's relation to Minato, so Naruto wasn't even respected or given any positive special teachings or treatment by the village (like Konohamaru's case). In fact, he was shunned!
How then, would the fact that Naruto is Minato's son make Naruto any more destined for greatness or affect the underdog theme in any way? Naruto still flunked the academy multiple times. He was still hated by everyone. He still never passed the chuunin exams. He was still a dead last in his class. He still went through all of this while still being Minato's son!
Success is not a trait that you inherit!
