Pick up a java book from your library.
1) pick up java for dummies.
2) read the book from cover to cover
3) get eclipse/netbeans to practice while you go along
4) ????
5) profit.
You're now an intermediate level programmer. The next step is to read up on design patterns. After that everything else is basically based on what you want to do so you just read situation specific examples/articles/journals.
I've never programmed in java before, myself, but I'm gonna try learning it and swift sometime soon. Wanna start making apple and android apps Zzz
