he needed sasukes help to fight kabuto. no different to if crocodile saved luffy in a fight. he isnt suddenly a hero who loves luffy. hes just being pragmatic.
and sasuke saved itachi in that fight more times than vice versa.
and yes all itachi really cares about is piling power onto sasuke without caring if it made him happy or even sane.

Eh, I'm not convinced Sasuke is all peace, love, and kumbaya... honestly I think Itachi would just be concerned for Sasuke's safety but is also waiting to see Sasuke's final conviction after the war. I know Sasuke is all "I don't want the village to go to waste", but in this case, it's the entire world they're fighting for, and I'm sure if anything, Sasuke would rather destroy Konoha himself and gain personal satisfaction from that than let someone else do it for him. So really, after all is said and done after the war, I think that's when we'll see Sasuke's true colors and I think that's what Itachi would be waiting to see.
