has Madara ever been pushed to his limit?

Has Madara ever been put in a situation during a fight that he has to win no matter what?
I mean he planned on dying against hashi, he tested Gai, he admired hashi the entire tome against the gokage, when he got back his first Rinnegan, he beat everyone with little diff, when he became a juubi jin the only time where he really needed to do something was against Naruto and Sasuke.

So the only time madara was pushed to high diff without his doings, was when he didn't have knowledge on current Naruto and Sasuke.

Am i missing something?

Lmao , This is only your own assumptions . Gai was saved by Minato and Kakashi in this fight , and it was 3 vs 1 . Gai has enough credits , it's people like you who makes others bash 8 gates.
