Wouldn't that be 124 tons then because the weights per door double but they should add together as well i.e. door 1 = 4 tons(2 per side) door 2 = 8 tons(4 per side) opening 2 gates = 12 ton. Right?

Each gateway has 2 panels, the first gateway is 4 (2 tons per panel). Your not doubling each weight of the panels but just the gateway in general, so 2nd is 8, 3rd is 16, 4th is 32, 5th is 64, 6th is 128, and 7th with 256 tons.

So you're saying the 2nd gate doors themselves weigh 2 ton each also? Opening the second gate means opening the first gate as well and if that total weight is 8 tons then the 2nd gate weighs 4 tons as well. the 3rd gate would weigh 8 pounds on it's own but the added weight of gates 1&2(8 tons) makes it the 16 tons right? I'm asking 'cause that's not how I thought it worked. I thought gate 1 weighed 4 gate 2 weighed 8 and since you open both when opening gate 2 it's equivalent to 12 tons.

The gate is basically one big door with smaller gateways making it up, so smaller gateways wouldn't equal an higher one. Like gateway 1 and 2 wouldn't equal gateway 3. As for the any higher gateway's panel weight you would have to divide the total gateway's weight by 2 to figure each panel's weight or double each panel per gateway and then add them together for the gateway's weight. I believe the reason your off is because your adding the gateways when their doubled and losing one of the panel weights.
