The jet-black flames of the Amaterasu, said to be "the fires from hell" and as hot as the sun, ignite at the focus of the user's vision.[4] Though the flames have been stated to be unavoidable, Amaterasu has been avoided a few times; Sasuke Uchiha managed to dodge the flames when Itachi tried focusing on him, though Itachi did not actually want to kill him and managed to hit Sasuke shortly after regardless,[5] and A using his Lightning Release Armour enhanced Body Flicker Technique avoided a short-range Amaterasu launched at him by Sasuke in an instant.[6]

After becoming the jinchūriki of the Ten-Tails, he was able to defend himself with the Truth-Seeking Balls. When he was actually set ablaze with the black flames through a combo-attack of Sasuke and Naruto, he recovered through the healing abilities of the Ten-Tails.
The flames are capable of burning through mostly anything in their path, even smothering regular fire techniques with ease. Amaterasu is said to never stop burning; even when whatever is caught by Amaterasu is completely reduced to ash or destroyed, it can still continue burning for seven days and seven nights. It cannot be extinguished with water or any other normal methods. The only thing that the flames have failed to burn into or through is Gaara's chakra-infused sand.[7] However, the flames burn fairly slowly, sometimes allowing anyone struck by Amaterasu an opportunity to remove whatever clothing or body parts have been caught ablaze. Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi is a technique which applies Shape Transformation to the black flames of Amaterasu, allowing the user to manipulate them at will. In Sasuke's case, while Amaterasu is cast from his left eye, he uses his right eye to manipulate the flames.[1] After entering its final form, Sasuke's Susanoo gained an orb of black flames, which serves as an alternate source of flames to manipulate with this technique.[2][3] This technique also allows the user to extinguish these flames.[4]

An application of Kagutsuchi through Susanoo whereby the eternal flames of Amaterasu are formed into weapons from the black orb held in the secondary right arm of Sasuke Uchiha's Susanoo. Of the weapons comprised of these flames is a sword, which was used to stab and incinerate White Zetsu,[1] slice through Kabuto's Spider Web Unrolling technique[2] and other large defences[3] with relative ease, leaving the black flames to consume what is left. This technique channels a large amount of lightning chakra to the user's hand. The amount of chakra is so great that it becomes visible. The high concentration of electricity produces a sound reminiscent of many birds chirping, hence the name.[4] Once the technique is completed, the user charges forward and thrusts the Chidori into the target. This produces heavy amounts of damage that is usually fatal. This technique is classified as an assassination technique because of the speed at which it is performed, despite the loud noise it produces.[4]

This is a ninjutsu developed by Sasuke Uchiha during his training with Orochimaru. By releasing the Chidori in every direction, an electrical discharge flows from the user's entire body allowing him to affect multiple enemies. When using this attack on a great number of enemies at once, it can effectively double as an instant defence. The body of the person touched by the Chidori will misinterpret the lightning nature as "electrical signals from the nerves", making its muscles contract. This causes the body to involuntarily go stiff, while at the same time receives damage. This attack can also be channelled through the ground to increase the range of the attack.[2]

This is one of many variations of the Chidori that uses shape transformation. It is specialised in more speed, by being transformed into countless sharp senbon, all aimed at the enemy. By increasing the amount of chakra used, the number of senbon also increases. It can become even more effective by using it together with the Sharingan, allowing the user to precisely shoot for the enemy's vital points.

The original Chidori gained its power by shaping it into a form sufficient for an electrical discharge and using it together with the user's own "thrust". This technique uses shape transformation to form the original Chidori into a spear or blade-shape, adapting it for mid-range attacks with a maximum range of about five metres.[2] Although it's less powerful than the Chidori, its increased range means there is less of a risk to the user. It also has the advantage of being able to be used for surprise attacks and capturing.

The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object, which rushes forward in straight line catching the enemy on fire. A line of enemies can be used as the conductor as well.[2] The flames are meant to target, and assault the enemy's upper body just like a projectile weapon.
While the technique is shown in the anime to be even larger and more devastating than Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique (and being able to melt rock), in the manga it is shown to be just a small burst of flame running along a line of wire.

The user compresses a large amount of chakra built up inside their body and changes it into a dragon head-shaped fireball. The user then skilfully manipulates that great fire, and attacks their opponent. Even outside of the attack range, its power and reliability are stressed. The flames have a high temperature, as they can create an upward movement of air currents which in turn can give rise to thunder clouds. A master of this technique can fire off several flames in succession and anyone caught in the technique could potentially be reduced to ashes.

A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire and expelled from the mouth either as a massive orb of roaring flame or as a continuous flame-thrower. The scope of the attack is altered by controlling the volume of chakra that is mustered. The released flames will engulf their target, and leave a crater on the ground's surface. This technique apparently requires more than average chakra reserves and most genin should not be able to do this technique.

This technique creates a volley of small fireballs, which are sent flying in an unpredictable manner assaulting the enemy. In addition, the flames are controlled one by one with chakra, so avoiding them all is extremely difficult. Shuriken can also be concealed within the flames, creating an unexpected secondary surprise attack. Like the flames, the shuriken can be controlled with chakra. For the most part, however, this technique is used as a distraction.

Sasuke's Susanoo is purple in colour in the anime. While initially dark blue in the manga, more recent chapters have coloured it purple as well. Sasuke's development of Susanoo is marked by intense feelings of hatred; whenever angered by the words or actions of his opponents, Susanoo grows in power. His Susanoo is, accordingly, noted to be much darker in composition compared to Itachi's.[27] In both its incomplete and complete forms, it has a more demonic appearance in contrast to Itachi's, which has a more "human-like" appearance, possessing horns, a long appendage on its chin and a malevolent grin. Much like Itachi's variation, Sasuke's Susanoo has two right arms, which are conjoined at the elbow, and one left arm, although it is able to form a second left arm as needed.[24] In its final form, Sasuke's Susanoo is surrounded by a tengu-like layer of armour with jagged teeth around its hood, as opposed to the straight teeth of Itachi's Susanoo, and wears magatama earrings.[28]

This technique allows Sasuke to channel the Chidori through his chokutō. This makes it nearly unblockable as the radiating and chirping blade can easily cut through steel. Furthermore, if an opponent is stabbed, their body goes numb due to an electrical current which causes the muscles to contract, making it impossible for the opponent to move. However, it can be countered by other weapons that also utilise Lightning Release chakra flow, such as Killer B's swords.[2]

The Fūma Shuriken (風魔手裏剣, Fūma Shuriken) is a large, four-bladed shuriken possessing pre-eminent sharpness and lethality. This type of shuriken is considered characteristic to the famous Fūma clan, after whom they were named and who possibly developed them. However, their use is not limited to this clan. Its four blades can be collapsed for easy storage, leading to its nickname Shadow Windmill (影風車, Kage Fūsha).

The chokutō Sasuke Uchiha refers to as a Sword of Kusanagi. It has a black scabbard and matching hilt (these are both blue in the anime), and is a larger size than a normal chokutō. Despite this, it has none of the natural specialities as the one Orochimaru wields, such as the extension of the blade and the ability to cut through almost anything, both of which are natural attributes of the Kusanagi, but it's been repeatedly shown to be very durable.

Since his time in the academy, Sasuke's taijutsu very high, forcing Kakashi to use both his hands in battle during the bell test,[49] and later outmanoeuvre two chūnin-level Kirigakure missing-nin.[50] Under Kakashi's tutelage for the Chūnin Exams final, Sasuke's combat prowess drastically improve, learning much of the Strong Fist-style and its techniques he copied from Rock Lee with his Sharingan to roughly match Lee's combat skill.[51] In Part II, Sasuke further improved his taijutsu under Orochimaru's guidance, able to hold his own in a taijustu fight against the likes Itachi and Kakashi, despite his physical debilitation against the latter.[52]
Since being a recent academy graduate, Sasuke showed great speed and reflexes, being the first of his fellow genin to react to the Demon Brothers' ambush. After improving in chakra control, his speed just above Haku. His training for the Chūnin Exam finals increase his speed significantly, able to move faster than unaided eyes could follow.[53] In Part II, Sasuke's speed increase further, able toto cover wide gaps in the blink of an eye, leaving others no time to react. He was later able to evade both Deidara's clay explosions at point-blank range and the extremely fast attacks of A. His dexterity also increased in speed, able to do many hand seals in a blur and launch weapon strikes just as quickly. His speed and proficiency with the Body Flicker Technique also can easily cut his opponents down without them noticing.

In a near-blind, battered, and visibly exhausted state, he still had enough stamina to fight against Kakashi, restrain and disarm Sakura, and later match Naruto's Rasengan with his Chidori. His overall improvements were so great that Sakura even suspected that he had been given drugs to improve his physical capabilities.
Since being a recent academy graduate, Sasuke showed great speed and reflexes, being the first of his fellow genin to react to the Demon Brothers' ambush. After improving in chakra control, his speed just above Haku. His training for the Chūnin Exam finals increase his speed significantly, able to move faster than unaided eyes could follow.[53] In Part II, Sasuke's speed increase further, able toto cover wide gaps in the blink of an eye, leaving others no time to react. Sasuke is one of select members of the Uchiha clan to awaken this Kekkei Genkai. Sasuke first awakened his Sharingan at age 7, with one tomoe in each eye, after seeing Itachi murder their clan. However, due to the trauma Sasuke endured, he was unable to recall this development and could not use it until years later during his battle with Haku. Later during his battle against Naruto in the Valley of the End, both eyes reached full maturity with three tomoe.
