Kakashi proved that one can delay that, not to mention that Kage-Bushin's are special. There have been cases where the Kage-Bushins have gotten the shit kicked out of them and they never turn to smoke. They turn to smoke when the user deactivates the Jutsu. (Which Naruto normally does when they are hit as he most likely loses focus of them and his chakra balancing, that or he has no further use for injured clones.

People are simply forgetting if the main body gets killed then all the clones disappears.. The clones did not disperse so that could only mean one thing.. It was a high quality clone.
