How did Orochimaru lose to Hiruzen?

The first and second hokage were practically fodders but with orochimaru's(hyped) skills he shouldve overwhelmed hiruzen and adleast won or delivered a fatal wound or something. Im not saying hiruzan is weak but he shouldve lost that fight, you think orochimaru was nerfed for plot?

I thought it was obvious that Orochimaru's arrogance and ignorance of the Reaper Death Seal Technique were the reasons he "lost" to Hiruzen.

In the end, Hiruzen just got trolled, though, as Orochimaru is still alive and has his arms back.

The fact he only used 2 edo tensei should tell you all you need to know. Granted most other Edo may not have posed much of a threat to Hiruzen but he could have got the 3rd Raikage or something.

i consider it a lose when you attack a village to kill someone and it ends with them killing themselves while you cant use jutsus

Nah, Orochimaru and Kabuto stated that Hiruzen was the strongest of all the kages who were Gaara's dad, A, Mei (I think, the 4th Mizukage died long ago after-all), and Oonoki. So old Hiruzen hype is much bigger than Oro's since we know how powerful those Kages were/are

Orochimaru didn't lose because he couldn't easily beat Hiruzen.

He lost because of his curiosity to see new jutsu. He asked to see RDS basically n after he realised what it was it was near too late. But who cares, he lived and hiruzen died.
