trailer below

This explains two hugely important things to me; first, how her powers will build, and second, why they chose to stick with the outdated 10%-of-the-brain concept.

The initial trailer showed that her powers grow throughout the movie, but this spot gives us a better idea of what, exactly, we'll be seeing. It all makes sense - rather than developing random powers, they accumulate logically.

At 24%, she can control the cells in her own body.
Which means we start with Craft-reminiscent hair color changes and (hopefully) some Elastigirl-style stretching.

At 40%, she can control matter.

Reaching out of herself for some Inception-style world-bending, and maybe even some bullet-curving a la Wanted.

At 62%, she can control other people.

I'll be interested to see whether this equates to just mind control, or if it includes power over their cells in the same way she controls her own.

These quotes also make it clear why the writers chose the 10% concept. As many of you know, I'm sure, this is a theory that stuck around for a long time, but has been thoroughly debunked. There is no percentage of unlocked mental capability sitting around waiting for us to get around to it. (Sorry to burst any bubbles there.) So why base a movie around it?

Don't know don't care it looks great. Maybe the writer doesn't believe the data, my question is isn't controlling matter over controlling other people? Once she controlled matter she could erase those people that should be 62% or higher.

I was saying I don't really care why he went with the 10% brain idea because this movie is going to be awesome enough to ignore that. But one reason the writer of the movie may have chosen to go with the 10% brain idea is because he doesn't agree with the counter argument that we use all of our brain all the time.

Honestly I think the debate comes from the two sides looking at it in completely different views. The scientific community responds as if people are saying only 10% of the Brain is being used in general and 90% is function less. Where the other side I think is saying 100% of the brain is running but it's not running at it's highest level of capability. And I don't think there's any real accurate measurable way to quantify it. What we think we know always changes in the future as we learn more, what's fact today may be myth tomorrow.

Interesting concept but if feel like if we could use more than 10% it would kill us.

true that.

i too think the debate comes from both sides, also if you think about it is really a good thing if this is real about we humans only using 10% of are brain that would be a great concept to study, we May even unlock things that we humans are yet to know. Just imagine?

though i would love to have some of these powers aswell, but i will probably be used for test and to find things about us humans.

There's always the possibility we have more mental capabilities than even Science can currently prove. I look at this movie as a what if scenario. Sort of like a Zombie Apocalypse.

Despite the controversy and criticism the movie will receive due to the old theory of humans only using 10% of their brain, many will be intrigued by the idea of what could happen if we truly did have the mental functions to alter our cells, and control people and matter if a drug could enhance our natural capabilities.

The idea is also frightening if such an invention was created and ended up in the wrong hands. Countries would be controlled, people would lose their free will. It's not something Science should tamper with for real due to the possible consequences, but it shouldn't discourage the possibility that our mind can be our most dangerous weapon if we learned how to use it properly.

Scarlett is one of my favorite actresses, and I can tell just by the trailer that she will put on an amazing performance in this movie!

ScarJo is hot to be sure. But the premise is ridiculous enough for a Michael Bay film. We use all of our brain. Not 10%. You might have 10% active on occasion due to the fact that your brain uses a huge amount of energy (sleeping or flight or fight response), but its not like you have limitless potential in your brain. I wouldn't be able to get past the terrible science in this movie to enjoy it

I guess you could say that we use only 10% in school? Lol

Yes indeed. A power like that can fall into the wrong hands, imagine the secrets of us?

Yep, if our world had its own Lucy, it wouldn't bode well for peace due to the need for power in our corrupt world.

I'm curious what the main plot of the movie will be, and Lucy's fate.

It's a possibility, but I think she will somehow be freed of the drug, and it will be destroyed, unless she pulls a Neo a la The Matrix.
