Can you play Pokemon..

X and Y without having knowledge of the games before?

Last pokemon games I played was Soul Silver and Ruby.

I know the question seems dumb but idk about Mega evolutions or breeding or non of that stuff Lol

Yes. every pokemon game is the same, just different pokemon. and feel free to only use the pokemon you're familiar with.

only thing you need to know is whats Super Effective against what.

yeah, the other games are good

you can always download a Nintendo DS Emulator and play a Black/White, Black2/White2, or HeartGold and SoulSilver ROM on your computer

X/Y seem rushed and a bit too easy but the upcoming Ruby and Sapphire will be great

X and Y sucked to me, if you really want a good 6 gen pokemans game wait for Alpha Saphire and Omega Ruby wich will be in stores November 21 everywhere except Europe (Europe gets it November 28) and buy that.

you can play anyone of them...x or y...and still have a good time.....i say get heart gold/ soul silver...and/or black-black 2/white-white 2 just so you can have a diverse team and pokemon....but omega ruby and alpha sapphire are dropping in november

The games' stories dont relate to each other. I've played X, Black, and Diamond and none of them relate.

Also cant wait for Alpha Sapphire ^_^

Yes, especially when we're talking about X and Y.
Unlike other games, it looked XY were made for the newer audience. The game was comparatively simple/easy for the players. Nonetheless, it was a correct step for the franchise and the games are pretty awesome.
As for the downloads... IIRC, there is no (properly programmed) 3DS emulator available at the moment.

Looking forward to ORAS.

You should be fine. In fact, Soul Silver/Ruby are much more difficult compared to X/Y. The game is ridiculously easy from what I've heard and they have a low number of 6th gen. pokemon so it won't be that tough.
