Why shouldn't people says massacre is justified becoz itachi has hokage mindset at age of 7 and hiruzen screwed many things.
By there logic this is perfect case that they can agree on.

It's stupid. Making Itachi the successor in my wording made it sound funny. I mean, If Hiruzen announced Itachi as the Godaime (in a few years from then) when he had word on the coup, it would have quelled the coup.

-prevented a civil war and possibly a world war

-if the elderly didn't they'd have to live with the fact that their children are not only dead, but traitors too.

Also, why were they attempting a coup in the first place? There were plenty, plenty of strong, healthy Uchiha. No one was starving or being mistreated. Hell, they were the Police Force. Even Kushina and Sasuke's mother were friends, evidence that Uchiha could walk around Konoha whenever they wanted. Albeit under supervision due to the Kyuubi attack. But why would that bother them if they had nothing to hide? The Uchiha almost committed that coup for one thing: power.
It was all Fugaku's fault, and Danzō and Itachi averted a crisis.

One thing I never understood: The villagers/konoha higher ups suspected the uchiha were behind the 9 tails incident? So if they were so suspicious, why not have the Yamanaka clan read their minds one by one to see if the did it. I mean, the Uchiha didn't do it, so it's not like they had anything to hide. Hiruzen was a brain dead fool, as was Itachi.

Why a Hyuuga have not seen Danzo's sharingan stock on his arm and eye socket?
The abilities are gettting ignored so manga can go on.

Why Minato didn't leave any intel about who controlled the Kyuubi, INTEL was sooo important in part 1, only in Pain's invasion we have seen the same, one thing that made it that cool.
