[Discussion] One Piece will be on break next week

If you're distributing 700 chapters, 10 dollars a chapter, you'll make 7000 dollars from the chapters. Regardless of breaks, taking breaks doesn't bring in extra money. Look at DBZ, that ended and is still bring in revenue, and One Piece has reached that level of popularity, so even if it ended 2 years ago, it'd still be bringing in the revenue, regardless of if it distributes 700 chapters over 3 years or 5, you're still only making money for 700 chapters, making money off of amount, not time.

Never open a shop, never start a business, never do anything which requires you to work with money.

You simply don't get it. I can understand if this is with one of your weird theories/conspiracies but this is just based on facts and real life. I'm out of this discussion.

So until I pay, I'm not allowed to have feelings and opinions towards One Piece? I suppose all of us that read it for free should stop saying how awesome it is. I suppose until we stop paying for it, we should stop coming here and saying "I liked this chapter" and "I like this character." Right? If reading the series for free means you can't point out a negative aspect, then it means you can't point out the positive aspects.

You're getting the wrong idea here. I'm not saying that you have to pay in order to have an opinion about OP's content. What I'm saying is that it's kind of useless about complaining about breaks when people read these chapters for free. It's not like he's going on a one month or one year hiatus. It's just a week. From what I remember, this is the first break we got in a while without any reasonings (i.e. shonen break/ being sick/ill). It's not like Oda is deliberately doing this on purpose. It's kind of understandable to me seeing how much effort goes to these chapters and how much content we receive per chapter.

Oda spends the majority of the year working on the manga. Shit even the break right now is so he can go somewhere to support one piece. You sound like a whiny brat complaining about it. He is a human just like anyone else he isnt your manga slave. Oda probably works harder than you ever will he deserves breaks.

People bring up that you read for free because it shows how ungrateful you are. You get the fruits of this mans labor for free and ***** when he takes a break. Scum.

So even if Oda takes a break from drawing, they have the 6 chapters to publish. I'm not saying Oda shouldn't be taking a break, I'm saying it makes no sense for Shonen Jump to take a publishing break of One Piece specifically, when they don't actually need Oda to be working to publish the chapter. Do you understand?

I wasn't even whining, I was saying the break makes no sense, you weren't smart enough to understand what I was saying, and after I explained, you saw that you were wrong and you're putting this facade of "I don't care"(which is why you came back and read responses here, right?) to save face. If you don't care, just keep it moving child, and avoid replying to or addressing me on this thread, are you smart enough to understand that, or will I have to yet again spell it out for you in a more basic form?

And that's why it's bullshit. How does putting OP on break make more money anyways? It's still gonna be the same amount of chapters, same amount of merchandise, same amount of episodes whether there are breaks or no breaks, so there's going to be the same amount of money.

The guy who doesn't understand basic marketing is calling other people not smart enough now.

The 6 chapter buffer is in case of emergencies not in case of short trips. Besides if the would lets say publish 2 of those, they need to build up buffer again to reach that 6. We would still have a break again. Also some of those on shelf chapters are also works in progress, if Oda wants to do some last minute changes he still is able too, if they're at the publisher he can't.

You're the only one who has got a problem with this (possible) break.

And I also want to react to your response on the first page.

A free chapter is like a free cake someone comes to bring to you every week. You're allowed to have an opinion if it's good or bad, but you can't complain if that person decides not to give you a cake on some weeks.

That is what this section is for, you can discuss your opinion.

Now go eat a snickers, because you turn into a right diva when you're hungry for a chapter.

I don't think I'd mind as much if this arc wasn't dragging out the way it is. It feels like it's never going to end at this rate. Not much happened in the chapter this week, after the break we come back to a flashback... Sigh.
