How long would have Itachi vs Sasuke taken back then when they fought in the uchiha hide out if Itachi went for a real battle? He never wanted to kill Sasuke...
And Sasuke was under Itachis tsukuyomi for quite a while. It would have been enough time to strike his "original" body down I guess.
