[Suggestion] Nb Poetry Award

alot of people here on nb like myself seem to be into poetry reading and writing
so why cant we have a poetry contest every week with a certain theme like the theme could be on a character ability object clan and ect as i find alot of people would love a contest like this and if you make one can i be in charge of it

Its mainly a select few that write frequently. Even if deciding a category of poetry to write on isn't a problem, it is mainly the number of contestants that will be an issue.

That sounds like a good idea, but the mods or admins can better explain why they don't hold poetry contests.

This ideas been bought up time and time. It's a great idea, but it wouldn't work. For one thing, we have Google. People can just search up poems and it would take too much time to validate whether a piece of poetry is original or simply a copy.

The idea is nice, but for this they are gonna need a host to moderate it. And the work would simply be to much. You see poetries can be taken from other languages translated and if they still hold the meaning, they can be used and that person would win just for translating.
So it would be a ton of work, for sth people are gonna cheat on anyway.

i see that the main concern is people cheating but people cheat in everything besides the point of the contest is not to win its to have fun submitting your poetry and reading and having others read yours and a way we could get past the copying is have very strict specific themes not that it will make the cheaters vanish but it will make it alot harder

I'm all for supporting your movement to make an official poetry contest, though I doubt I'll participate... Im not really much of a poet [pretty sure the only poetry I've ever written was multiple different types of zombie poetry back in high school as part of a poetry portfolio thing. I could dig those up and post them, but other than that I doubt I'll join in on the fun]

I like how NB has a fanfiction contest, where people read chapters and vote.
But we don't yet have a poetry contest, where we only read a few lines and vote.
