Do people not understand the concept of bad match ups?

I've been peeking thru a few vs threads, and it seems people dont understand what this means. Ninja A can be a top 10 ninja and overall better in almost every category, but ninja B may have a specific fighting style, skill or jutsu that completely counters ninja A.

Prime example:

Gaara vs Minato.

Im sorry Minato fans, but he loses this fight 10 out 10 times.

I definitely this Minato is more skilled, he has more exp, he probably has a more versatile arsenal and in my opinion, he's just better overall.

BUT....

Gaaras sand armor and flight is just too much for Minato.

Gaara can potentially counter EVERYTHING Minato can throw at him.

1. Gaara being able to fly instantly puts Minato at a huge disadvantage. To my knowledge, he has no ranged jutsu.

2. He throws FTG kunai, Gaara intercepts it can counters with sand shuriken.

3. If he does manage to get a rasengan on Gaara, sand armor/shield takes the brunt of damage.

4. If he places a seal on Gaara, Gaara can just drop his outer layer of sand armor skin.

5. Minato summons Boss toad, Gaara counters with sand drizzle or sand Tsunami.

Now....Gaara can potentially land a killing blow under this condition:

Minato has no FTG seals placed outside the battlefield. Now if Gaara uses sand tsunami and minato doesnt have a seal already placdd outside the battlefield, there is NO WAY he can throw a kunai that travels fast or far enough to outrun a ocean of sand that can completely turn a forest into a desert.

Minato speed blitz gaara so bad also he has Bijuu mode.

and as for explanation .. Minato can use FTG even w/o throwing kunai..... he can mark XD ...

I agree that people tend to forget that there is probably at least one character that can beat each member of the Narutoverse.

However, I think that Gaara vs Minato would actually be a fairly good match. Gaara's ability to fly and sand are both very problematic for Minato, but they are problematic for nearly every other shinobi as well. Yet, opponents have already shown that they can overcome Gaara's defenses with speed and/or brute force. I think Minato would find a way to use FTG effectively to overcome Gaara's defenses. For instance, throw a number of kunai at Gaara (some of which would be caught by his sand, but other would likely be ignored if they don't pose a threat). Use FTG between these in rapid succession. Thus creating a possible opening in Gaara's sand defense. Rasengan should have enough power to hurt Gaara through his sand armor (since it is designed to specifically drill into opponents). Another possibility is to teleport other things, such as paper bombs, with FTG. There's no guarantee that Minato would win, but I still think that Minato at least has a pretty good chance. If Lee, Naruto, and Deidara all could beat Gaara, then Minato still has a chance.

I think a better example of a weak character beating strong ones would be that under the right circumstances, Ino could solo pretty much any other character in the series. Mind transfer...slit throat, cut wrists, jump off cliff (pretty much any method of suicide that isn't instantaneous)..undo jutsu.

Gaaras weakness was speed before the timeskip. He can fly now. Ground speed or speed blitzes are irrelevant. Even with bijuu mode, rasengan is his overall best jutsu and that is not 1 shotting Gaara.

To the point of the thread I agree . Some ninja are bad matchups for others. Gai vs kisame, deidera vs sasuke, to name a few . As for your gaara vs minato comments , i dont know . Vs threads are a waste of time because fan fights are never like real manga fights.

Damn bro! Thats a good strategy...like making stairs to Gaara. If anyone would think of that, it would be minato. ..still gaara is analytical as well.

I don't think that's a bad match up. Minato is really fast and if anything it would make a great fight. However, a lot of NB doesn't seem to understand bad match ups.
