[Question] Multiple/Alternate accounts

May I know why are users allowed to have alternate accounts? I am just curious because on most of the forums, it is against the rules i.e. sock-puppets are strictly prohibited.

The number of active registered accounts on NB is high enough already, won't it work against the server stress/database? Not to mention, they can't use that alternate account when one of their accounts is banned (which makes perfect sense). So, I am confused about the actual purpose of letting them use multiple accounts.

Won't it be beneficial for the servers as well as the staff members if each individual has only one account? And if a user has a sibling or someone who shares the same ip, they can simply contact the moderators to let them know about it. So, that they won't ban that particular account.

Alternate Accounts are not allowed. The rules of having an Alt are loose, but Mods would take care of it when the see a problem arise. My Opinion.

Maybe people just want a new account, or want too start over, or something.
I don't see why it's a problem. I mean, yeah, their are trolls, and stuff. But if you're causing no harm by having two accounts, i don't see the problem.

I don't see how that helps tbh. I can create multiple troll accounts by using proxy or VPN. In other words even an admin or doxer can't differentiate your ip between your main or the alt.

The funny thing is, even if you use an proxy they still accept your account nowadays.

We have an RP and people sometimes like to play with different characters/abilities.

Besides we can theoretically ban the alts but cannot really check them all practically. So it's mostly just cosmetic rule if we make one like that- on smaller or less active forums maybe but bigger the forum - harder to check them all.

PS: Using proxy means increasing chances of getting permbanned much faster.

We can actually. I wish I knew how exactly to program the bot but it is most certainly possible for a bot to detect multiple accounts being accessed from the same i.p. address.

Ah we have all those helpful programs. We can check IPs and all.

Don't worry about it. And trust the admins. They know what they are doing. V is a good at what he does. And this suggestion has come up before and they have already weighed it out.
