Actually the only time Naruto tried it Madara immediately saw through the shadow clones and went straight for the real Naruto, reflecting Naruto's most powerful attack (at the time) with one hand on his gumbai.

NB is right on the money to finally realize Kaguya is a poor FV. Granted, I think what we're seeing here is final proof of exactly why this isn't the FV yet.

I will allow you to remember Lee's kick, that caught Madara by surprise, or Black Zetsu's betrayal. We can also take a look at Sasuke testing out his new Rinnegan on Madara for fun, he was caught off guard more than once. (That aren't the only times either.) Madara was caught off guard several times, but the times he was he survived because of his "immortal" body, Black Zetsu being the only time when he was beaten.
