Anything stated to be "unstoppable, invincible, etc." should be taken as such. However, in the manga, any of these things may be weakened to accommodate the plot in the same way that certain characters (mostly Sasuke) are able to recover from fatal injuries or suddenly decide to stop thinking and just recklessly waste one-off jutsu (DANZO) or abandon goals/beliefs that they have had for decades because of a 16 year-old boy (Nagato/Obito). It's too arbitrary. I would say, in theoretical situations, we should trust the databook over the manga when possible.
