Does he care about finishing the books in a reasonable time? Does he care about his series getting messed up when the series catches up to the books and starts making stuff up? Why doesn't he make a book every two years like Rowling did?

It's probably taking him so long because in this last book there aren't any people left to kill. It's confusing him. He only knows how to kill people off hahaha

You are clearly a ignorant flaming troll and we don't need you here on this base.

Did you know they even the fastest writers usually take a year in order to write a 100-200 page novel.

George takes
So long because his readers have high expectations, he always tries his best and his books are long as hell.

The next one is going to be like Bible size, it's supposed to be like 1500 pages.. That would take some time to do!

He still has to finish this one which could take another 5 years if he writes 150 words a day and the whole seventh book

I highly doubt he would only write 150 words a day.

Because he's not a machine to be used to satiate the consumers.

Because some writers no matter how good they are get stuck sometimes. And even though a lot of these writers say they have had the entire series planned out sometimes things change. Because these stories are fluid and things you thought would work out years ago when you finally get to it you realize that it doesn't make sense and when something like that happens it can change a lot of what you had planned on doing.

And book 5 didn't come out that long either I do believe if he will get faster with these releases like he use to because of course he doesn't want the ending to his series to happen in the series first.

He has written himself into a lot of corners. I think he is having a great deal of trouble getting himself out of those corners.

Jk Rowling wrote her books so fast because at the time she was so poor that she had nothing else to do- she had to write.

George has enough money that he can take vacations, and spend time with his family-

Well his books are more complicated than Harry Potter, but I think he likes to take his time to map out everything properly.

You know he actually gave the producers of Game of Thrones the plans and ideas for the last book, knowing that HBO would catch up before he can finish the series. That alone tells us that the last book is gonna take a good number of years to come out.

He cares more about it than you do, hence why he is taking his time. Don't like it? Go write your own international successful book series then and see if you can beat him. If not stop complaining about it. We all want to read the new books asap, however he is the one doing all the work, so it's just pitiful to say things like whether he cares or not.

Also people Harry Potter and the Song of Ice & Fire are two very different series. The first book of the latter series is large enough to cover completely the first two or even three books of the HP series. On top of that HP was seen through the eyes of only one character and the largest part of series occurred within one building. SOIAF is seen through the eyes of countless of characters which are spread over several continents and GRRM has to make all of that work out correctly both chronologically as geographically. That's extremely difficult, even more so when you take into account he gives a lot of information about the history of the world he is writing and again all of that has to fit.

Lastly as I recall GRRM is working closely together with the makers of the TV series, so that shouldn't be a problem.
