Lol You're getting mad cause the fanbase thinks it's a perfect series? I can say that about the Naruto fanbase, most of them praise the series for more than what its worth. It seems like you're jealous that OP gets better ratings from it's fans on a weekly basis than the weekly Naruto chapters.

It was somewhat interesting in the few first arcs I watched, but it was discontinued at the time and I never picked it up again due to conflicts. I plan to try to after Naruto is over or perhaps very soon, but if there is little to no criticism and nine out of every ten fans believe it is flawless, I believe this will lead to little discussion in several departments and little to no relation between myself and other fans.

I'm glad you're giving it a go! that's actually quite nice to see another op fella joining, it's always nice to have debates with a fellow one piece fan.

I'll start. This claim is judgemental, again it's based individually according to its fans, you will have such audacious people claiming over their fav series and will consider them the best no matter what series it is, additionally one piece is a success and has remained that way for a very long time. The so called fanboys aren't bragging over something generic and insipid which makes their opinion or saying completely soaked in oil. but rather something which is considered a laudable event throughout the anime world and is watched and loved by all age groups. And is sold really well nonetheless which contributes to it's wide success, it's really something different. Once piece is a show which I've enjoyed tremendously, I even posses the audacity to admit that I even fanboy over it, but I have my limits ofc, I wouldn't extend the fanboyism if it leads to unneeded fighting and arguments. To narrow it down, you're gonna get that when an anime has a huge fanbase. Even tho this is a naruto forum, you can probably comprehend the amount of one piece fans on this site are staggering.

But again, you have those people, but if you're a sensible person then you don't need to complain over that, seeing as how many naruto fanboys love claiming "their" series is the best, and one piece is childish, is also there.

I can't stand people who regard things as perfect because there is no such thing in this world. Furthermore, these same fans, both of my age group and younger, have bashed several of the series I have read and watched over the years simply out of jealousy or disdain and that alone would make me antagonistic towards them. Even further, I believe SJ is overly biased towards the series, ranks it too high and consistently favors and over-advertises it on top of other series, sort of like shoving it down people's throats or using it as propaganda.

There is no such thing as perfection, especially when it resorts to fiction, wether it be movies, video games, anime etc there will be flaws. The writer is a human, he is not perfect either. unless you're omniscient but even so however, you're taking the fan bashing way too seriously as I see it, as one piece is a well known and sold series, you're gonna have more of "those" people, it's not out of the ordinary you're gonna encounter them more often compared to those of least known animes out there. It's the same case with dbz, and also nardo, as a one piece fan, I know, we have naruto fanboys telling us one piece is gay, it's not good and it's for kids, the hate spreads both ways my friend.

I will try to pick One Piece back up, but due to all these aspects, it is uncertain I will be able to, or will even want to exchange with its fans, what's more relate to it on its own. If this is too much of a generalization, then by all means tell me and elaborate why. Hell, please encourage that it is so and that I'm only looking at it from one viewpoint because I'd hate for the series to be completely ruined for me due to these issues.

If you're stating that due to its fanbase you'll have trouble watching it, then I really suggest you don't, if you're just gonna think about that, then you're not gonna enjoy the series as throughly if you come across something not to your liking "hey, this sucks, but the one piece fans claim it's 10/10" with that going in your mind I'm positively certain you'd be more pissed then actually enjoying the series. so relax and watch it, no need to worry.

Why would you need to create a thread to consolidate your own personal opinion? This threads sole purpose was to make you look like a jackass who bashes a series based upon its fanbase (which you have greatly underestimated, I'll have you know) and its success. Anyone is welcome to read One Piece. We're a nice bunch of people as long as you don't slate us or target us. You've made very personal accusations as well as generalized a fanbase which is well within the millions based upon probably only one or two members of Narutobase (which is probably the most retarded forum on the interwebz). That in itself is pretty insulting, thinking we're all the same. So to be honest I'm quite glad you won't be interacting with us, because your unpleasant behaviour is not appreciated here.

Huh? you're basing your entire opinion of the fanbase by some people "who called it da best series HURR" that is not viable reason to justify from, by your logic I should be crying over the fact I watched dbz (I enjoy it, till this day I do) while majority of its fanbase love fanboying over it, generally when it comes down to how powerful anime characters are. Again, you're calling out the one piece fans in a rather aggravating tone. You should calm down, and enjoy it without overflowing these unwanted thoughts.

You really showed us your negative side enough times for us to get annoyed by your ignorance and generalizations. BTW a lot of people in this thread have criticized something or the other about One Piece. We don't pounce upon each other in this section for criticizing the manga. You are the one who is losing here. That too because of your own attitude. We all read the series cause we enjoy it. Its not perfect but all the flaws it has are so trivial compared to everything good it has. Plus we are not pessimist enough to find flaws in everything in One Piece. To an extent I am, but only in regards to how it's advertised, as I stated. However, as I stated my main argument extends to the fanbase's over all attitude.

Wow this guy really has no idea what the OP fandom is like. Lemme enlighten you a bit. I love the series. One Piece is my favorite piece of fiction ever, and it's something that I consider special. But yet, I can see the flaws in the series.

The art style was at one point, mediocre, one could even say bad.

Oda has a tendency to shift focus a lot from one group of characters to another right as the heat in that group is built up. This can sometimes be enjoyable, but also be bothersome, especially if the heat has been something you have been looking forward to for a long time.

Some characters are drawn in an overexagerrated goofy fashion, it can sometimes bring down the seriousness or tension of a scene when it really needs it, or sometimes just make some characters awkward to look at.

There's hardly any deaths, though this often makes for when deaths do happen to be very impactful.

The anime sometimes makes a scene TOO goofy. For example, scenes with Sanji and Violet were unbearable for me during the anime, even though Sanji is my favorite Strawhat.

The anime will add some scenes that will lessen the awesomeness a scene had in the manga. For example, scenes with Hody Jones and Caesar Clown. As you haven't seen the series, I won't spoil what happens for you.

This thread basically sounds like you hear the fanatics, not the fans, speak loudest, so you generalize the entire fandom. Like everyone else has said, every fandom has it's extreme. Just because OP's fans love the series and praise it, doesn't mean they are overhyping it. Most of us genuinely love the series, and so, we express positive feedback. When was the last time you talked only about the negatives of something you love?

Dude... If people say it's awesome the likelihood is that it is awesome.

They attack you because you attack them. You criticized the fanbase. What do you expect? They'll read your criticism of them and think "what a nice guy" - right? Because that's what you seem to be expecting and if that's not the case you play the child and report people. Of course you're going to get insults if you behave like that!
