Nice thread.I agree. For now naruto has no decent counter to it. A lot of fanfics in here saying sasukes jutsu needs prep, or causing him strain when manga hasn't said anything like that.

So sasuke closed his eye to conserve chakra, why would he do that if he was totally fine and not strained (losing and gaining tomoes could have to do with this). If there was atleast one other example of ANYONE doing that at any point in the manga then you could have a point.

However all the evidence points to closing an eye being due to strain or a large chakra drain, you cant deny that fact >.<

He wouldt close his eye midbattle for no reason, the proof of his eye straining him is him closing it.

If you reread that part sasuke is yelling at naruto to be ready and stay alert while he himself has his eye closed, cutting off ALL vision of possible limbo clones, and half his vision feild. Madara could appear from ANYWHERE. If the eye wasnt draining then he would have no reason to close it, were just repeating the same points over and over now >.<

Im not trying to say sasuke is gonna go blind, just that his teleportation technique or maybe simply keeping his eye open drains enough of his chakra for him to have to take a small break at the very first opportunity he could.

There's a possibility Sasuke could have just used continuous teleportation but regardless of what he did Madara wasn't able to react.

Even in yesterdays chapter, Naruto was this time watching Sasuke as he was about to fall into lava. But notice the exclamation and question mark on the 3rd panel:
Though you could say Naruto wasn't able to stop flipping, but he still could have used chakra arms to grab Sasuke so Sasuke wouldn't have needed to grab his foot, but that's only if he had sensed Sasuke coming from behind.

To conclude, you cannot react to something that is instant.

-Well who's to say Naruto was trying to sense Sasuke? He could have been focused on Madara and his shadow. He had no reason to sense Sasuke at that point in time

-In the second scan, I'm sure the sword was in the shadow Madara and Madara got it when the shadow returned by to him since Sasuke started analyzing that the attack can work on the Shadow and how the shadow must return to Madara after a certain amount of time and how he can't use it for some as well. Plus Madara only have 1 orb with him since Minato took the rest away so he can't use his barrier.

-In the third scan, Madara clearly wasn't surprised as he took the time to think instead of reacting. In fact, Madara had Obito's other eye so seeing how he wasn't surprised, why didn't he just snipe Sasuke with Kamui? You can also consider that Madara simply just didn't care. We seen Kakashi's and Obito's eye sharing eye sight when close, for all we know Madara saw Sakura about to destroy his eye here

-Well if you look a few pages ahead of the last scan, you'll see that Naruto was spinning from the blast so while we did see Sasuke falling, he had no reason to be using his sensory ability for that

. He was surprised cause he was spinning backwards from the blast of Sasuke's attack on Kaguya and all he knows is he hit something. That's why it was "?!" first then he said "Sasukeh!!" after realizing it was Sasuke. He has no reason to be using sensory ability on Sasuke, he's not worried about Sasuke attacking him since Sasuke said himself he needs him to help him defeat their common enemy.

PS. Madara only had 1 eye so had halve his field of vision and wasn't at full power since you need both of your eyes to bring out it's full powers as Madara and Obito stated.

Making good use of a break just shows how smart he is. I'm not saying he can spam his Rinne non nonchalant but his chakra has been drained alot during this fight and he isn't tired yet. Sasuke can use his teleportation multiple times back to back and this should go without saying.
