Did Madara knew he would lose?

I think Madara knew he would lose his last battle against Hashirama even though he had Kurama on his side.
He has fought him many many times so he obviously knew Hashiramas extend of power surpassed his by far.
Just imagine Madara fighting the first Hokage w/o Kurama Oo


That is why he bite the delicious Hashirama and told himself Izanagi in advance.
Anyway it was a smart move from Madara to use Izanagi after his death. Great no one expected that, otherwise sensor type ninjas (like tobirama) could have figured his trick.

Is this kind of strategy on paar with Itachi? =D

Madara probably just allowed his self to die, especially since he claimed to know that he could see through hashirama's clones with ease

No he went in for the victory. He just had a safety net. Remember what BZ, the seal activates when certain conditions are met. Like when itachi's seal activated when sasuke saw tobi or when itahci's crow was set up to activate KA when he saw itahcis eyes.

Same with madara, in case he died the seal would activate, otherwise it won't. Madara was just smart and had plans to succeed even in defeat. Which he did

Nothing. You have a misconception I guess. Hashirama fought Madara PLUS Kurama. That is the only reason Madara stand a chance against Hashirama. W/o him Hashirama would have won this with easier. He spammed so much Bijuu bombs in the battle - and this is not Madaras feat but Kuramas^^ Also, after Hashirama took out Kurama the fight was almost over.
