Q: Seven swordsman of the mist

I just wanted to ask,did they operate as a group under direct control of the Hidden Mist village or they were Rouge ninjas who acted separately and on their own?

They worked under the Mist Village, but they were probably the dirty workers and their chaotic personalities probably made them quite independent

They worked directly under the Mizukage to be more specific. Like Chojiro. My question is, How come we've only seen Chojiro, Kisame, and Zabuza. Where are the other 4 hidden mist Ninja. The edo's were like previous generation so where are the current generation?

There weren't besides Chojuro, Kisame and Zabusa. Kabuto stole their swords and they could not inherit that title without having their special made swords
