That doesn't mean he can handle him? That is just evidence of Luffy being cocky as per usual.
Luffy got punched by Doflamingo (yes, it was a sucker punch) but that ass kicking would not have happened to a top tier. I believe they are on the same level, but Doflamingo is a little stronger still.

This is the one time we have seen an enemy easily show his superiority to Luffy.

Unless he can find a weakness in Doflamingos fruit, he isn't taking this by himself. He will need help. They will even struggle then. Especially since all of them has sustained serious injuries.
Luffy has a gaping slash in his back.
Law is just half dead.
Zoro is actually doing pretty decent but he will most likely sustain some injuries from Pica.

I too think that doflamingo is a bit stronger than Luffy but I have a small theory since they have ways to go until they reach doflamingo I think after Law gets the key he might heal himself not 100% but maybe 50-70%? Also remember that he is a doctor and he somehow saved luffy and jimbe

Well, he has to be a darn good one xD
But good point, would make sense for him to get involved. Maybe right as Luffy is about to suffer fatal wounds Barty and Becca show up. Barty blocks with a shield and Law is released...?
