To me, element bending in Avatar series looks awfully similar to Naruto. The animation is strikingly alike (especially Earth Bending), only difference is that benders don't use hand seals coz they're not ninja. Especially the avatar themselves look a copy of Hiruzen.

I enjoyed ATLA show far more than Shippuden, but element bending and animation regarding bending look very similar. Do you feel the same?

Why don't you ask/research the people who made the show, not a bunch of people who have no idea.

I highly doubt it.

There are many animes, shows and games that control the elements.

In fact Naruto and Avatar both would have copied from the original concept of controlling the elements.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any anime that doesnt look similar to another big manga/anime. They're successful for a reason, so of course others would look similar. It's gonna be hard, if not impossible, to find a completely original anime.

The very original concept of controlling the elements resides in the mythical tales of Hinduism, from where it went to Buddhism and what not. So no, they both got inspired from the myths of these religions.

Studio Pierrot animated some of Korra actually. Don't think that's a huge reason why they would look similar though, just throwing it out there.

Did Naruto copied the reincarnation aspect of Avatar?

I'm talking about anime, not mythology. Which anime has shown element control before Naruto?

Thanks for the info !

Oh right I forgot, the use of magic and elements is exclusive to last airbender...-_-

You're telling me Sasuke is the first person in anime history to spit fire from his mouth? Avatar isn't even an anime Lol

Studio Pieriott is responsible for animating some episodes in LoK thats why they "look" similar, its the same people making similar looking Fire.

Avatar bending powers did not copy Naruto's Jutsu -.-

Id be inclined to tell you the info about the chinese influence and how Element manipulation has been in a multitude of comics and video games and literature ages before Naruto was even thought up.

Theres a whole world out there kid. Im guessing your anime knowledge doesn't go past the big 3 and attack on titan.

But since you specifically asked anime, One piece showed element control before Naruto XD

Pierrot didn't, they produce some animation in-house and for extra manpower they hire some places in Korea. It is some of those Korean companies that have some overlap with other series, including Avatar. Pierrot itself does not handle work from elsewhere.

To answer the original poster's question, warriors/ninjas that fight with elements is not original. Look at the series Ninku. The protagonist of that series was a former captain who used the element wind (Fuusuke made "rasengans", formed handsigns, dodged attacks with substitutions that look like logs, and could multiply himself using optical illusions). There are other ninja captains who fight with other elements. The Captain Planet cartoon had teenagers who fought pollution using the elements.

One time someone asked whether the idea of a creature that is a nine-tailed fox was ripped off from pokemon. This question is like that one.

Most people consider it to be an anime, because of the animation
