I don't believe it would go to waste for me. This is not just a deep philosophical question for me, but spiritual. I don't even believe in intentionally taking a non-sentient being's life. I'm not denying that I might feel so angered that I had the desire in the moment, but I know I wouldn't act on it.

For the FIrst one.

i Would Only Kill Myself If he was a Close friend of Mine. i am not feeling guilty for Anything. If he is a close friend. it wouldn't be honest to let one of us life. and let the other one life with what just happend. If he cannot make the decision i would kill him. Grab his Gun. Kill myself. Its over. its Done.

For The stranger. i wouldn't care. i would Kill him. i Wouldn't care and move on.

So in general you'll be experiencing fear of accepting the truth? So to avoid the truth that, "Whether he really is your close friend who wouldn't put his life above yours and thus won't pull the trigger or not?", you'll be happy to pull the trigger thus accepting death knowing/assuming that he wouldn't have pulled the trigger?

First off, it's impossible for any of us to know with absolute certainty what we would do in such a situation. It's one of those things you would only know the answer to once you have experienced it. However if I had to guess, we all have that "survival instinct" and we all want to live as long as possible, so when push comes to shove, I would probably pull the trigger.

That is presuming it's a complete stranger. If it was a good friend or family member, the situation is even tougher, and you would be left in so much turmoil that it's impossible for me to predict how I would react.

> I would try to speak to the person, try to figure out their character while at the same time figure out their story and I'm selfless so if the person's character is innocent, understanding and kind I'll kill myself w/o hesitation! However shall the person show me negative emotions by showing acts of hatred towards me, for these kinds of people I will kill them w/o hesitation!

> Also, I'll either die happy knowing my death was done for A Selfless cause! Or I walk away knowing that Humanity has one less trash to deal with..

I actually thought this was related to Deadman Wonderland at first.

On topic:

Depends, I would hope to escape that situation before that point. Also how long would this last? If it was for a long period of time I would kill myself first, since it wouldn't end. If it was over a short period of time, I would kill the stranger and mourn for their death. I don't know what I would do for my friends/family though.

That's a clear response. So how would you feel later?

Oh I'd feel terrible after. I'd go through a lot of things trying to justify it to myself. I'd wonder if I should have let him/her kill me, what their life could have been had they lived, etc. I don't think people that say "I'd let them kill me" are doing anything irrational. There's no way to know if I could even bring myself to even raise the gun, let alone shoot. But in terms of the most "rational" thought would be to put your own survival over the other person's , so I'd shoot the other person.

Of course the people saying it depends on their relationship to the other person have a significant point. That is certainly a factor as well...if it was someone I loved, I'd let myself die in a heartbeat. Thinking on my answer now, there is no way I'd kill my SO or a parent. If it were a friend or a relative outside of my immediate family I don't know how I'd react, as I love my friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc., but not in the way I love my parents or SO.

This is a question with a lot of very important variables. Someone with a low opinion of themselves might not pull the trigger; likewise, someone with a higher opinion of themselves would be more likely to. Relation is also often a factor. Whether or not I'd pull the trigger depends heavily on my mood and other miscellaneous circumstances surrounding the incident. Would I be more or less likely to pull it if I knew the person and hated them? More, undoubtedly. If I loved them? I'd probably let them shoot.

That's quite a instinctive response there. Good.

In a way, you won't be as calm as to talk with him/her at all. Try to imagine the situation clearly.

Yeah, just one. He'll/She'll die knowing that you weren't his close friend and put your life above his/her in exchange of you comforting yourself that he/she is your best friend. So in the end, it's a selfish response anyway.

Hmm....okay.

Well actually the shivering of hands and moral battle within minds and raising of heartbeat, cursing yourself and all only last till you take the shot for the first time. The moment you pull the trigger, everything becomes calm and normal. Your hands will never again shake at all before killing. That's the truth.

As for rest of your response, I see...

This is more than just an ego assessment. It sounds like bravado to say that people with a low self-esteem would be more likely to allow themselves to die. An inflated self-esteem is grounded in uncertainty, and therefore more likely to feel such fear that they would act in self preservation. Whereas someone with a truly secure sense of being would understand their place in the world, know that the individual is not as important as the whole, and not fear death to the same degree as someone who's ego was enlarged to protect their insecurities. Look at Kohlberg stages of development. Are you proposing that people like Jesus of Nazareth, Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi, Boenhoffer, or Thomas More gave their life for their beliefs because they were just crippled with low-self esteem?

Your asking a situational question so your going to get a bunch of situational responses.

Ethics 101.
Ex: Would you steal a local farmers chicken if your kids were home starving?
"Well how old are the kids.. Is the farmer wealthy blah blah blah"

If you want direct answers you gotta set up a clear situation so people will be able to break it down just based on their ethics and not a bunch of variables.

"To die means nothing, but to live a life without glory and victory means to die everyday."
bllalblablablalbalblablalbalblablablalbalblablalb-Napoleon

I'd take what the other person's life has of good and/or bad into account. Then I'd compare with mine. Whoever has the most useless, purposeless life will die.

If I can't shoot his hand or do some James Bond shit then I'd kill him.

In all seriousness if my life at any moment could end then I wouldn't hesitate.

Personally I'd say that this depends on the cause of death. I don't think that I would have the cojones to actually kill myself when it came down to it if the method of killing myself would be painful. If the cause of death was quick and painless I'd evaluate the conditions and reflect on my own life and whether it's worth more than the ones' I'm killing. If it'd be a scenario like in Saw I'd probably discuss it with the other person as well just to get their opinions and assessments.
