In this thread, I show you my vision about peace in Naruto and try to find out what's Kishimoto, the creator of the series, definition of peace. I also give a little of my own vision.
Naruto started almost two decades ago. The whole Naruto deal, since part one, was to find out what's Kishimoto idea of peace. I believe, when it all started, Kishimoto didn't had his own idea of peace ready. Even if he had, it probably changed after so many years writing this series. I believe Kishimoto ended up running after to find his own path of peace. This is no easy question to be answered, so I do believe Kishimoto has grown along with his art.
The tale of Uzumaki Naruto
"I don't go back on my word, that's my ninja way"... "Never give up, that's my ninja way!", is Naruto way to keep moving on, on the real world. I truly believe that's something close to never give up to find an answer to peace. And that's the closest to peace we can ever get - in anywhere. We can construct a bridge to hope, like it was once shown in the manga, but we can't force people to follow the same path we believe to be "the path to peace", "the right path". Because there's no right path! The outcome of life isn't something you can predict. But we can give people an option.
Jiraiya will and believes in Naruto words (never give up, never go back on your word) were so strong that he could come back to life to defeat an enemy known as Pain. Naruto was so important here that Jiraiya end up finding happiness and true peace in his death. Jiraiya felt as his job was done. And he was right. Jiraiya was, probably, the most important character of this manga when we talk about peace. Even knowing that Naruto is the Children of the Prophecy, Jiraiya was the one who did the first step towards peace. He was the one to open this gate to peace.
For me, peace can't be achieved. Never. It doesn't matter what you do, peace - as it is taken by the majority of people - is impossible. Peace mean stopping in time, never moving forward. Peace means ignore the future and the possibilities of having moments besides the ones you already know. With Mugen Tsukuyomi, we saw what's the true mean of peace for each character. This said, Naruto was left with an impossible task.
Whoever loses a family member, for whatever reason, knows how hard it is to move forward. Why heaven is so wanted by who believes in it? Because, in heaven, we don't have to stop the time. People understand heaven like a place to call home. You die. You go to heaven. You stay there and meet people that you used to know in life and more and more people you love keeps coming after dying. It's a place where you don't have to protect the ones you love, they are safe and sound, and with you.
Rikudou Sennin tried to bring peace to the world. He did pass the right message, but he failed to find the so wanted 'true peace'. He meant to connect people with chakra, believing once people can understand eachother, peace will be reached. I disagree with that. Even if you understand people, murder and robberies will not stop. Peace, as it is imagined in heaven, just can't be reached in the real world.
By the way, this is my first text about peace, but first I want to know you guys vision of peace. The next thread is filled wtih a lot of manga quotes, but it have been hard to put it right.
