If it were as simple as that, Kakashi would not have commented on it. All summoned animals until now have been in the same world as the summoners.

Is there any direct indication that the summoning realm(s) is(are) in the elemental nations? Always thought it was some kind of parallel world with lots of different species of talking animals.

Being outside the five great nations is not a separate reality lols. It's just a different part of the world. Mount Myoboku, Ryuchi Cave and Shikkotsu Forest are all in the same world.

Yes, but it's insinuated that the main summoned animals (Snakes, Toads, Frogs) aren't in another dimension, they exist in the same world that Naruto and company exist in, but in a place that is very difficult or impossible to get to unless you have knowledge of their whereabouts.

If they are indeed, in another dimension, summoning may not be possible by means other than by the Rinnegan, which would make this an impressive feat.

Here is Naruto, preparing to learn Sage Mode stating the page before that he doesn't know where to go to go to Myobokuzan.
