Overhyped:yes
But is it enjoyable: 100%

Many people dislike the fact that such a good idea could be wasted, but overall it is an above average anime. Although the second arc was absolute shi* the first arc was an extremely fun watch IMO. If you like Sao check out log horizon. Just started watching it and I must say it is quite similar to Sao and is also very good. Although Sao is still better in my opinion.

it is an anime anime isnt from real world so it shouldnt be logical you dont expect to wake up one day and be able to have super power like flying in the sky or trap in video game or be able to do bjiuu dama i dont know why people want all anime and manga to be logical anime and manga is for people enjoyment if you dont like it say i dont like it or i didnt enjoy it i will respect your opinion but if you excuses because it isnt logical than i shouldnt be quiet and i wont respect anyone to say to anime/manga he/she didnt like it because it isnt logical

Illogical ? is that all you got from reading that post ? and you actually trying to make an argument from there ?
we don't want it to be LOGICAL we want it to explain itself about what the **** is going on and how one related to one another.... if not then it can be said that the whole story its just an MASSIVE ASSPULL, i can't believe you didn't get that, and here you're moaning about respect which is out of context because nobody asked for your respect, yes you shouldn't be quiet but from what i read above, i should stop expecting so much from a guy who accept ASSPULL and praise it like it some kind of masterpiece,

Sword Art Online is more or less the equivalent of a fanfiction in it's writing and quality. Whether people want to overlook it or not is up to the individual, but I believe it fails at the fundamentals for writing a good story,

The first major fault with this anime was the story. I’ll admit that despite being skeptical at the beginning, I was intrigued by the first two episodes, and felt that maybe SAO did live up to its hype. Of course, that was when SAO said “lol, nope.”

SAO is indisputably one of the most polarizing anime in recent memory. It has devout fans who think it's one of the greatest, haters who think it's trash, and a minority that just says "hey guys can't we all just have different opinions?" I hate the first and last groups with a fiery passion. I feel like breaking it down why I think it's awful,

The story veers off in a completely arbitrary direction in episode 3, focusing instead on Kirito’s failure to keep his guild members alive. This is a prime example of SAO trying and failing miserably to create drama and some kind of dark history for Kirito that he can whine about later on. The viewer is only introduced to his guild members for a little over ten minutes before they’re killed off, and yet the creators expect the viewer to feel some kind of sadness watching Kirito act like a sniveling prick whining and crying about how he couldn’t save his party members and how it was all his fault and that he should just die. Well, I’ll admit I cried. Just not in the way the creators intended to. Honestly, it was so hilariously bad that I couldn’t help but laugh watching Kirito stare at a ****ing blade and talk about how nobody would notice if he died, like some kind of emo attention *****. I’m sure that this moment was intended to be sad, but instead it just came off as stupid and contrived.

I thought for sure that after that train wreck the story would put that behind it and get back on track, since shounen anime tends to stick to the story for the most part. Instead, the viewer is given more filler-esque garbage that sinks their expectations even lower as the anime frantically juggles through different themes. Seriously, does this series want to be a shounen or harem or slice-of-life? At least have some semblance of a story.

In episodes four and seven, the plot is put completely aside, and instead the series focuses on these stupid meetings with shallow girls who inexplicably want Kirito’s **** despite having only met him for a day. It’s like the creators are trying to show you how cool Kirito is despite being a total loser who plays video games; perhaps to make the losers in real life watching this series feel better about themselves. It only ends up being totally pointless and doesn’t further the story in any way.

Then we have several other episodes focusing on Kirito and Asuna’s relationship, as if the creators had now completely forgotten that these people were fighting to get out of the game in the first place. SAO practically pulled their relationship out of thin air and expected everybody to simply accept it, despite the fact that their relationship feels so forced and unnatural that it simply doesn’t work. And of course we get the tasteless fan-service in episode 8 when Kirito pulls a Yuuki Rito (their names are even similar) and gropes Asuna’s chest. Because that was totally necessary.

And then the story turns in a completely different direction in episode 14, when Kayaba Akihiko offers to let all of them go if Kirito can beat him. Of course, he isn’t able to, but through the power of love or deus ex machina or whatever bullshit plot device they created, he manages to defeat Kayaba at the cost of his own life, bringing the grand total of boss battles shown on-screen to three. Except, of course, he doesn’t die, because ****ing plot armor and whatnot. So after rushing through what should have been a much longer ordeal, they all return to the real world,

Kirito is a character who was designed as a blank slate so that losers could insert themselves into his place. He has no personality to speak of,His only unique trait or real aspect to his character is him being strong. Really. He's so strong people surrender to him without even fighting. He’s pretty much perfect for a shut-in loser who’s addicted to video games. I mean, only a couple times in the series is he actually challenged because he is an all powerful 1337 b34t3r. Seriously, most of his enemies only hate him because they’re jealous.

What is the point of an action series where the protagonist cuts through all of his enemies with the greatest of ease?

There are several incidents where Kirito inexplicably befriends or makes acquaintance of characters devoid of personality who do nothing, but get killed. And then we're supposed to care about the death of these random characters. You can't just introduce random characters, kill them, and say "ohhhh dey died isnt dat saaaad." You need development.

I'm going to be honest, The most enjoyment I got out of this anime was laughing at the "serious" scenes. When Kirito introduced Asuna, in real life, as "lightning flash Asuna" and talked about her guild and power level, I seriously cried from laughter. Actually every time Kirito cried so did I. Just not in the way I think I was supposed to,

As for the action aspect, I'm not sure how anybody would enjoy the action scenes, and I certainly did not. They were all too easy. There were a couple times when it tried to make it look like he was in trouble, but lo and behold, some miracle happened every time. Knowing how the fight will end is an unfortunate situation in plenty of anime, but those anime at least have more creative fight scenes and abilities or they are character oriented anyway. Even runescape has better and more interesting fights than this MMO.

The romance was just bad. There's much better romance out there and the characters had no chemistry. I'd prefer a romance with characters that are actually intriguing. Also, most anime focus on the build-up of the relationship a lot, but here it happens right away and there's no time to enjoy anything. This wouldn't be that bad if their relationship was interesting, but they don't have any serious arguments and are essentially the perfect couple. The only enjoyable developments in their relationship were the ones where Asuna was in danger. And by "enjoyable developments" I mean "developments that made Kirito cry like a little girl." Those moments were still awful, but comparatively speaking, they were enjoyable.

This is not an anime that I would recommend to anyone. I would not even recommend it to my worst enemy. That is cruelty of which I am not capable of.

I did like sword art online, superb graphics.

But in a serious note, if you're going to watch it, just watch from episode 1 to 14 then skip to the last chapter.

If you want a better anime than SAO then go for Log horizon, even better.

Hope i helped you.
