I was expecting it to be like naruto because how many people say that naruto ripped it off but it's barely even alike
The only thing it has in common with naruto is there's a guy whose eyes get red when angry and his clans been wiped out but it was by bandits who sell the red eyes and he's hardly in the manga
The hunter exams and chuunin exams weren't even the same in
HxH they have a running test,cooking test,you had to pick a number and whose number you get that's what tag you get and then a tournament
The chuunin exams started with a paper test which tested people's psyche,had to get two types of scrolls and get through a forest and two tournaments
Founding out your nen and chakra nature element were kind of the same
but in HxH it's to find out what type of nen you are reinforcement,materializations etc but it's a cup of water that changes or overflows etc
In naruto it's a leaf that crumbles burns tears etc and it's your element
Nen can also be changed to anything like nen could be like sticky gum and vacuum or whatever's convenient to the plot
With chakra and ninjutsu your attacks are element based or a secret technique that certain clans know
And that's only the first chapters after that the rest of HxH and naruto aren't alike at all
Gon and killua are nothing like naruto and sasuke.gon is more like goku.a strong kid who doesn't know much about the world because he grew up on a island with few people but his interaction with big animals made him strong
There's nothing like a greedy island in naruto or any villain in HxH who resembles one in naruto

HxH and naruto don't have that much in common at all
