The show leaves out lots of things including all of the flashbacks and other characters who exist in the book and will never appear in the show. Game of Thrones animated is something I've thought about and if done correctly would be beautifully great. I saw an animated movie of Lord of the Rings as a younger child , before the live action films were made, and it was great. It captured Frodo's sorrow & struggles and the brutality of it. Game of Thrones show doesn't have "it all" but it does do some things better than the book. I think it could be great! Or beautiful nonetheless.

Both feature different groups who share a common path, but are directly opposed to each other?
Both feature a cast of characters that can die at any given time?
Both are filled with a permanent sense of danger?
Both have their own senses of suspense, and distrust all around?
Both blew up in a relatively short amount of time?
Both have a dedicated fanbase?
Both risked a lot of spoilers?
Both have a deeper plot that initially suggested?
Both have supernatural elements?
The characters use swords in battle?

There are soo many similarities between AoT and GoT, even down to the last two letters of their abbreviations.
