Well i'm not the greatest scientist nor philosopher of all time but i think i found out what makes us different from other alive beings like animals or plants.
the thing we have in common is that we both don't have a reason to exist. to an individual level, we're not important. why were you born? the world could simply exist if you didn't, it's not ,like you're the most important person in the world. you're just a part of the collective.to all species of alive beings, the collective is important. so we individually don't have a reason to exist. not at all.
however the difference lies in the fact that humans will try to create (fake) reasons that will justify our existence which are our purpose in life because we feel like we need a purpose to exist. so we settle goals and objectives and we pursuade them. this is something similar to shopenhauer's perspective on things but the trick isn't in the fact that we are afraid to die but want to live, it's about finding our lives a purpose because we want a purpose to justify our existence. other alive beings simply don't do that. they only live in the moment, they don't even care about any shit other than just surviving.
think about major social issues like consumism: your psyche needs to justify your existence. quick, quick! justify it by acquiring status. another issue, suicide: when you realize that the purpose cannot be achieved.
think about it.
