How do you think the Zetsu army in the war was created, did Madara and Obito collect people before the war and attach them to the Gedo Mazo??

I thought they were just grown from the Gedo Mazo, last chapter showed it was more than that.hmm

Hashirama was just the vessel Madara used to make copies of him, in the form of White Zetsu.

Kaguya does the same, but she is turning normal people into WZ using the power of the Shinju, instead of the Gedo ( like in Madara's case).

Yes, Gedo mazou was the humanoid structure and Hashirama's clone produced what we call white zetsu.

Kaguya used humans inside of Gedo mazou
