Is it just me, or is the moon eye plan actually pointless

I can understand why obito would like activate the moon eye plan, he just wants to live in a world where Rin exist, but Madara and more confusing Kaguya, why would they want something as silly as the moon eye plan?
OK first off, both probably achieved what they both want, becoming the most powerful shinobi there is, and also some form of immortality, so why put everyone in a dream when their real life is way awesome.
Anyways i hope Kishi can do more to the story that just telling us that madara went through all this bs, just to be with his brother, and more importantly i hope Kishi has a seriously mind blowing reason as to why Kaguya would want the moon eye plan.

I don't know what Kaguya wants, but as we know Madara (Supposedly) just wants a world where there are only winners or no winners or losers.
Currently, that's not how the world is, even though he is the strongest.

he saw the whole 5 villages fighting as one, and he even acknowledged that fact, even if its not instant peace, it's still the first step to attaining true peace, if madara really wants peace then he should have died for the cause instead o killing thousand to satisfy a few

To me it is obvious. By using the Infinite Tsukuyomi, no one can resist the tree. With everyone "tied up" to the tree, all of their chakra, life force, etc can be sucked out of them. Madara wanted peace and loved to fight. Kaguya wants to be a god. She wants all the chakra to return to "One" inside herself and rule the world. Pretty evil. Bad Rabbit, no carrot!

I would submit that Madara's definition of awesome would be "beating Hashirama". Now yes, technically he did beat him and immobilize him there at the end, but he kept him "alive" to witness the infinite tsukuyomi. Know why? Because Madara is sort of a prick and a sore loser. He wants to show Hashirama and everybody that HIS way is better than the village system Hashirama came up with. That's my take on it at least...
