Bergdahl Rescued.

Let's set something straight so I can point out how horribly the U.S. Congress is running the military right now.

Bergdahl is an American soldier that has been in Taliban custody for the last five years. He ended up in Taliban custody because he purposely left his post in the back of an Afghan contractor truck to smoke hashish and discuss how ashamed he was of American actions against the Middle East. He was then captured and held hostage. Without a single bruise or sign of starvation he openly railed against the U.S. Military and their presence in Afghanistan. As soon as he was reported missing ALL air assets in Afghanistan were diverted to helping find this piece of human stool costing other soldiers their lives as well as the lives of several soldiers sent to look for him on the ground. He was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant while he was captured automatically without having to go to a company, battalion, or promotion board, let alone "grind" for points like the rest of us.

The U.S. Government decided to trade 4 known terrorists for this individual. Four known terrorists that have taken American lives. To get back what? A deserter. A shitbag. The living embodiment of what todays Army strives to weed out. Why? Because we don't leave anyone behind. The fact that we actually negotiated with terrorists for this living piece of human fecal material is a testament to how for our congress has fallen in its drive to gain votes through the ignorance of voters.

This is a perfect example of how the U.S. Congress has driven the modern military into the ground. By rewarding deserters with a sob story and shitting on heroes that were assigned to classified missions. There is no more integrity or loyalty in the field anymore. Only votes.

I want to vomit right now. Maybe its because the knee jerk reaction to this news was to get filthy drunk but I really can't stand the thought of working for these people anymore if they reward someone who by all rights should be standing in front of a firing squad right now while they steal our hard earned benefits.

I'm glad I'm not reenlisting. I'm done with this bullshit.

Let's talk about how the U.S congress uses the Military to terrorize the very people they claim to be trying to help... Oh waiiit zzz, is that a "need to know basis" subject?

Don't let your jimmies get rustled over such minor problems, look at the big picture, look at all the pieces of the puzzle don't just single out specific bits.

Listen Jin, I am not in the Military so I don't know much but if the Army is a family then people would be glad to get someone back. It is the inspiration and thing that will keep people close and shooting them does not sound great on the the Militarys part.

I feel yah man, As a kid, I always wanted to protect my country and the place I lived in.
But as I gew up, I realized, its not what its supposed to be.

How am I going to protect my country, when im terrorizing someone elses. I don't get it honestly, People are putting their lives on the line and for what, so someone can get enough votes to send more people to their deaths?

Honestly, Im tired. Tired of all of this. Our government is so corrupt.

But, to answer your question. NO, they should not be shot, it would only make matters worse.

Edit: Although, he should not be rewarded either. If he disobeyed an order to stay at his post, and was captured because of it, then he should be punished accordingly. They should make an example out of his sorry ass.

It's not that. We have to live to a certain code. This man broke it. And was rewarded for it. Not only that he set us back and got people killed. Twelve people died trying to find this man. Why? He chose to abandon his post. He chose to go hang out with possible terrorists. Then he gets captured and what happens? He becomes a media tool for senators to gain votes.

Twelve people died trying to find him. Four men who took American lives went free so he could come back to a country he betrayed.

How am I supposed to tolerate that?

Let's get things straight. Those 4 men who killed Americans protected their own country from your country.

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

You want to shoot deserters? I'm all for them going to prison but shooting them is murder. They are American citizens and have a right to a trial

Let's get things straight. Most of the Taliban come from Pakistan. They cross the border and offer money to young boys they radicalize into Jihad against America. Then they send them to die against better trained American soldiers. It isn't "I'm going to defend my country" over there. You're thinking like a European. Over there it's "I'm going to defend the Quran," or "I'm going to defend my family." Then they end up fighting against fellow AFGHANS. You know how many Rangers are going on mission right now? Four. How many KKA are going out? Forty. One out of eleven combatants is American right now. And they're still fighting. Why? Shithead extremists.
You really don't understand Afghans until you meet them so its understandable but the widespread ignorance that comes from assuming they follow a similar line of thought as westerners is laughable.

Dud. This is not the first time America fights "Evil Governments" "Extremists" because of INTEREST. And gets away. And they call for sanctions and shit on russia because of Crimea.

Really it's retarded how close the Nights Watch is to the U.S. Military. Most of us are **** ups in the real world that found it to be a better option than smoking weed in moms basement, working at Wendy's, or selling crack. There are a few boy scouts but they are a minority. The only thing that matters is that you are undyingly loyal to your peers. Even people you don't like. You walk into a bar and Smith who you hate is getting into a fight. Well guess what? You best be whooping that dudes ass alongside Smith. You take that away and what do we have? A bunch of retards, low lives, screw ups, wannabe badasses, and boy scouts. That's the military. You take care of one another or the shit doesn't work.
Bergdahl broke the only real code in the military. You never turn your back on your boys. And he did it to get high which is the second worst part. Worst is that people died trying to find him. And they promoted him.
His stripes were forged in the blood of better men. It makes me want to cry honestly.

Imagine the twelve people closest to you in the world dead. He did that. And he was rewarded for it.

They ****ing should. We shouldn't have been in Iraq. We should have been sanctioned. Granted only good could have come from Saddam dying we were in the wrong. I have no problem with that. Afghanistan? We were totally in the right going there. People seem to tie the two together ignorantly. As for the Ukraine. We have a legal binding contract with the Ukraine stating that so long as they gave up their nuclear weapons we would come to their aid if the Russians invaded. And guess what? They invaded a sovereign nation and we haven't done shit. Why? Because Congress and the Senate know we are tired of war. Americas integrity is being flushed down the drain. But this is getting away from the original topic.

If someone deserts their post. Betrays everything they have sworn to do. Then is captured. Gets people killed. Should we shoot them as deserters after a fair trial? Or should we promote them so a congressman can get reelected?

Okay, feel free to say something because I don't know the full views of Bergdahl, but let me get this straight, you want to have this man stand in front of a firing squad because this dude doesn't agree with the military's actions and he went to go smoke some dope? Now I agree that him leaving his post to smoke weed was a dumbass move and he should certainly be punished for it, but shot down? Now that just makes you sound barbaric.

If a drunk driver deserves to go to jail for 20 years for drinking, driving, then killing a family of five. How does this guy get off for deserting to get high, getting twelve people killed, then talking shit about the cause they died for? Then comes home unbruised and safe after he gets traded for four times his worth to the enemy?

In World War I and II he would be dead by now.

I am sure 90% isnt educated enough to talk about that subject. Nor are you. The united states military and it excerising its might is similar to a check and balance system with Russia pushing its borders in ukrane. Believe me if one stops showing off and looks weak even for a second the other will capitilize and its a landslide from there that could end in WWIII or just in needless blood shed.

Right, again, I said he deserves punishment, but let's not be bar-****ing-baric about it.

Also, keep in mind, there are a bunch of Americans who share his views and smoke pot. I'm assuming they're next on the list if they get captured somehow? I would hope not anyway.
