Note: If your opinion varies other than mine, that's fine. I do not claimed to be absolutely right or anything so please, keep the flaming to a minimum.
We are presented with the Infinite Tsukuyomi being cast and we all may have noticed that the Edo Hokage aren't subject to the genjutsu in any way, as well as Killer Bee supposedly but that's for another time. My theory, which is just me going out on a limb, is that being that Edo reincarnations are basically wood clones with an infinite supply of chakra, I believe it is possible that they are somehow (connected/correspond to/a part of) the God Tree and it's power/chakra. Perhaps an Edo reincarnation is technically a small fraction of the God Tree itself and are fully immune and unbound to the Infinite Tsukuyomi. I believe the main reason that they aren't being physically and mentally tethered to the god tree right now is that, in a similar way to the Zetsus, the God Tree may think that they are an animate part of itself, therefore leaving them alone to act on the God Tree's accord even if they are not mentally/physically influenced by it. I guess you can say the God Tree is... Confused when regarding the Edo Hokages.
