Introduction

Sick at home, and bored as hell, thought I might as well go ahead and create another one of these. Basically, this'll be a thread similar to these two threads, which I made some time ago:

This thread, however, will be focused on the abilities of the Sharingan. This thread will not cover it's later forms, such as the Mangekyō Sharingan, the Eien no Mangekyō, or the Rin'negan. I might make a thread on these Dōjutsu later on, if I feel like it. However, as of now, we'll just stick to the basic Sharingan, namely, the Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

The Sharingan​

When Uchiha suffer after experiencing the loss of a loved one or despair, special
chakra sprouts inside their brains, which affects the optic nerve and produces a
change in their eyes. That is the eye that reflects feelings, the Sharingan.

The cornerstone of the Uchiha Clan's power, and the main reason for their reputation as the strongest clan, alongside the Senju Clan. An Uchiha awakens his/her Sharingan during their younger years, in most cases the awakening is triggered by emotional or physical trauma. The average Sharingan has three different stages. At the point where it is first awoken, it has a

Sharingan. Seeing as the Three-Tomoe Sharingan is far more common than the other two versions of the Sharingan when it comes to the main characters of the Manga, I'll save time by skipping over the first two forms, and going straight to the third one, seeing as the other two are essentially nothing more than watered down versions of the Three-Tomoe.

The advantages granted by the Sharingan are many, in this thread I'll attempt to cover every advantage as well as possible. The three main abilities granted by the Sharingan are:

• An incredible clarity of perception, granting the Sharingan user the ability to analyze an opponent's techniques and moves, allowing the wielder of the Sharingan to copy these techniques.
• The ability to see Chakra.
• The ability to lock an opponent in a hypnotic Genjutsu through eye contact.

That is the dance that makes it seem like you can see the future.

Clarity of Perception​

The Sharingan's most notable ability is the incredible eyesight it grants to its wielder. While perhaps inferior to that of a Byakugan user, the clarity of perception granted by the Sharingan is truly amazing. Shortly put, the Sharingan allow its user to follow the movements of an opponent, in such detail that the Sharingan wielder, with some practice, is able to completely mimic these movements. With this ability, Kakashi Hatake was able to mimic the

of Zabuza Momochi to a level of detail where the latter started to contemplate whether the former had an ability to

. Using this ability, Kakashi is rumored to have copied

the incoming attack. There are examples of Sharingan users copying even specific fighting styles, such as when Sasuke Uchiha copied Rock Lee's Taijutsu

The boosted eyesight granted by the Sharingan allows its users to analyze an opponents movements, even granting the user the ability to foretell which movements the opponent will make next. This grants the Sharingan user the ability to see a few moments into the future,

Another ability granted by the Sharingan's enhanced vision is the ability to see clearly through hand seals made by an opponent. An example of this ability is Kakashi's analysis of Kakuzu and his

, where the Sharingan enabled him to ''See through the speed of Kakuzu's hand seals'', something that shocked the latter. Sharingan users have been shown using this ability to their advantage,

the weaknesses of opponents whose hand seal speed is too fast for the normal eye to see through.

Multiple examples exist showcasing the enhanced eyesight one is granted by the Sharingan. Alongside the examples listed above [And some I may be forgetting], it's worth mentioning that without the Sharingan's enhanced eyesight, Kakashi Hatake's signature move, the Raikiri, would have been unusable, seeing as the user of the technique is going at a speed to great for him to be able to react to

The Ability To See Chakra​

The Sharingan's enhanced eyesight does not only appear in it's clarity of perception, but also in the fact that its users have the ability to see the color of Chakra. The advantages granted by this ability are numerous, an example is Uchiha Sasuke being able to use this ability to spot

in the ground, allowing him to pin-point their exact location.

This ability also grants Sharingan users the ability to tell whether a person is under a Genjutsu or not, by analyzing the

. Because of this ability, catching a Sharingan user with a Genjutsu attack is incredibly challenging, as most will instantly note their own unusual Chakra flow, and break out of it.

Along with these examples, this ability has also been shown granting its users the ability to see through techniques that normally would suffice in making a Shinobi

. Another trait is the Sharingan's ability to tell

an opponent has left, and whether they're out or not.

Genjutsu​

The Sharingan's most infamous gift, it's extraordinary Genjutsu capabilities. Most people would agree what the Uchiha Clan's most dangerous weapon is probably the fact that looking into the eyes of a Sharingan user in the middle of a battle will almost certainly result in the opponent's loss. This would be due to the Genjutsu of the Sharingan, which is inflicted through

. This Genjutsu can affect an opponent in multiple ways, such as:

The diversity of the technique, and the simplicity of its infliction makes this an incredibly dangerous tool in battle. While certain Shinobi have developed a fighting style created to counter this, it's certainly not an option for everyone, seeing as harsh training seems to be needed for it. Without this particular fighting style, most Shinobi will be put at a severe disadvantage when fighting against a Sharingan user, seeing as fighting while avoiding eye contact is far easier said than done. Shinobi, such as Uchiha Itachi, have even been shown developing styles revolving almost solely about taking out an opponent by catching an opponent off guard, and taking them out with a Genjutsu.

The Sharingan also grants its users the ability to take control of larger animals, such as

. Using this ability, Sharingan wielders seem to gain complete control over the

While not displayed in the Manga, Uchiha Itachi [Who, by many, is considered to be the best Genjutsu user in the series], was

to be able to take control of multiple people at once, and control their action. While there are examples of Mangekyō Sharingan users using their Sharingan to take control of Shinobi, normal Sharingan users have yet to display this feat. [That I know of. If there are some examples, please do list them]

At least it was on the most interesting variation of the Sharingan. The other evolutions are too main stream. Anyways; Nice thread Raijin. I particularly liked how you highlighted the portion you labeled Clarity of Perception. I don't see too many users even mentioning this when this is probably one of the most useful abilities that would also help diversify the move set of any Uchiha in a heated battle. It just doesn't get enough credit.

Ye' should definitely continue these types of threads, always fun to read.

Thanks man, appreciate it. And yeah, it definitely doesn't get enough recognition. People generally don't seem to realize just how OP the Sharingan truly is, even if it isn't the Mangekyo.

Ok so far. The clarity part is stretched and allot of what you stated is repeated with out you knowing. They can read handseals because they can predict body movements. It isn't a separate ability to read hand seals, it is under the category of pre-cog. Same with the "Cheating on test", that is the ability to mimic a ninja's movement. He simple copied the other and that's how he cheated.

The "how much chakra part" is false. Itachi was simply assuming and making a hunch. That is why Sasuke then replied "I will not Deny". When Sasuke was against Deidara and other opp he had no idea how much they had left or which opp had a shit load of chakra about to be used. Only the Byakugan can detect how much an opponent has an how much they will use before they actually use it.
