Haku And Zabuza?

One thing I've never really understood is how these two characters are still so relevant in the Narutoverse? The Land Of Waves arc wasn't exactly huge and these two characters have been gone for years, but they somehow even managed to make it into the shinobi war arc, I never really looked at either of them as anything more then just filler characters, what do you all think?

Well they were the first two villains that really introduced the cast's abilities and potential growth into their lives
as Shinobi.

That wasn't really my question lol I'm talking more about there overall characters not there skills.

The reason is because it was a nice stepping stone for the main characters.

It's not that I think there bad characters or anything like that, It's just that I've seen there names brought up more then someone like say Kisame who is overall a better ninja and is actually part of the main plot or well was at one time lol

Despite not seeming that powerful in comparison with the growth of Naruto and Sasuke, Zabuza is still one of the seven swordsmen and Haku has a unique Kekkei Genkai. Both were quite powerful in their own right, but just seem like filler/fodder compared to Naruto and Sasuke now.

Umm their not filler characters they are actually written in the manga hahaha. They're very relevant considering they were the ninjas who gave naruto his ninja way. And actually gave naruto his confidence as a shinobi. Haku taught naruto what it means to be strong they were very instrumental to narutos growth.
