It would have given Hinata a heap of character development. I don't remember Hiashi saying something along these lines. It would also give a better impression of her characters as opposed to the one I'm having now with her 'obsession' with Naruto.

She's shown no interest in becoming powerful or being the head of the Hyuuga clan....so like, why did Neji train her so hard then? Why did Neji die for her then? There is so much Hyuuga potential that will never be met- so much that even Naruto SD a comedy manga is able to do it in more detail.

She never wanted to be the head of the Hyuuga clan, she just wanted her fathers acknowledgement.
