Lol well well, quite a few twists and turns in this chapter.
Sasuke's remarks this chapter are a paradox. I wanted to punch him with how cold, conceited and arrogant he came off, but at the same time realized for the most part, he was right. They cannot do much without senjutsu or kamui. All the same, I was still hoping Naruto would punch him after he interrupted Kakashi and told him to shut up. Sasuke has no respect for anyone including his teachers unless they interest him or are on par with him. It was Kakashi who trained him to become a chuunin and gave him chidori and it was Sakura who protected him in the forest of death and cared for him when no one other than Naruto did. And if really plans to become Hokage, he should respect everyone and use teamwork, though for all I know he may be planning another method of becoming Hokage lols.
He's becoming hard to read, as he almost always has during climaxes and I believe he cares for everyone, based on his actions when he returned and saving them, but believes his ideals are more important than his feelings, much the same as he did in the rescue sasuke and sai arcs. More parallelism with Indra and Madara there, whose aspects I don't much like and are antagonisitc, but that I can still understand.
The twist with black zetsu was a jaw dropper lols though myself and others were expecting as so. I however was expecting it a bit later and under different circumstances.
I'm theorizing all sorts of things with this turn. Mist are jumping to the conclusion that it's all Kaguya and that she will completely take Madara over and return next week, but I'm also thinking about other characters such as Shisui, Orochimaru and Hagoromo's brother being how mysterious they are as well. After all it was due to Orochimaru and Kabuto's research and jutsus that Madara was revived, not through Obito and Nagato. Furthermore, Orochimaru obtained Hashirama's cells as well and experimented with them, creating edo Hashirama and his own clones for Danzo and Yamato. We also still don't know his full knowledge and motives and he's regained his hands and jutsus. He appeared to be under the IT, but he could use his snakes eye and shed his skin for all we know to resist it. He also cursed spiral zetsu, obtained transmigration, is in the body of a zetsu and the other zetsu are resisting the genjutsu, etc.
We also have Shisui whose death was unelaborated, whose as powerful and intelligent as Itachi and whose body was never found.
Then of course there's Hagoromo's brother who is just as interesting and mysterious as Orochimaru. For all we know, he may have antagonized Hagoromo and followed Kaguya in the end and was sealed in the mazo.
I enjoyed seeing everyone's dreams. All of them were funny. Some were predictable. Others not and quite insightful lols.
Hinata gets together with Naruto and Neji lives to become protective of her.
Kiba becomes Hokage and makes a national dog Holiday lols.
Shino finds a dragon beetle.
Chouji gets a girl and respect for his weight.
Skikamaru canonized his love for Temari in a funny dream where he wishes to marry her, Asuma lives to to his newborn son and he believes it's too troublesome to be married seeing a kid take over Asuma's life and his moth badgering his dad. My second favorite dream definitely.
Ino is acknowledged not just by Sasuke but by Sai, revealing she may have feelings for him as well.
Neji lives in Lee's dream as well and Lee is finally able to defeat he and Naruto and be acknowledged by Sakura.
I didn't quite get Ten Ten's lols. Neji survives but she replaces Lee and Gai's youth pride with vanity? I agree with Neji that that was weird lols.
Mei's was funny where she finally got her husband and Tsunade was left and jealous old maid. lmao!
Dan survived to become Hokage in Tsunade's place. Perhaps this means she never had complete faith in herself as Hokage, while Orochimaru remained good and Jiraiya and Nawaki survived as well.
Gaara's was probably the best and most touching. His perfect dream where his mother and uncle lived, his father loved him and he had a friend as a child-Naruto. I especially loved that symbolic "Don't stay out too late" part lols.
Kishimoto found a logical way for them to leave the Susano'o as well.
Madara being taken over by black zetsu was actually understandable to me. He was drunk with victory, had just cast the largest jutsu, believed Zetsu's faith was unshaken and was focused on Naruto Sasuke while Zetsu possessed that super fast, untraceable Kamui.
I liked that Madara retraced his feelings for the world's happiness, though you could see it in his eyes he had lost his mind and grip on reality.
Returning to whom the final antagonist will be, I still find it too obvious that Kaguya is the sole person behind it, though I could be overthinking things lols.
Whoever it is, I'm unsure of their motives. Madara was following Kaguya's will so why would she turn on him like this? Simply to be revived and physically in control herself or something more? Perhaps she wishes to absorb everyone into herself with the god tree or to actually destroy everyone. Hagoromo stated she did become like a demon who ravaged the world rather than a savior and a goddess.
