How is betrayal that he didn't know was coming being outsmarted? If BZ had made plans to betray Madara from the very start and Madara knew, then yes he was outsmarted. But BZ made that decision in that very moment, he had shown unwavering loyalty to Madara before that, so the idea that BZ had planned to betray Madara is out the window.
